   Maybe it’s just me but generally speaking, when people discuss the worst video game adaptations, Prince of Persia isn’t mentioned often when it absolutely needs to be?? Not sure if Jake Gyllenhaal has been more miscast in his career? What’s with his accent?? Why is the action edited like someone just discovered Premiere Pro? Gemma Arterton? Alfred Molina?? Many many questions.

    Wait, other people don’t like this? If we are comparing this to other video game films, this is the best out there. Doom? No thanks. Resident Evil? No way. Assassin’s Creed? Definitely not. Only Tomb Raider comes close. This feels more like an AC game than the AC movie, I wish the Prince of Persia franchise hadn’t stopped… they could make some really good games nowadays.

    Extremely messy plot. The acting was pretty shit. The action scenes were unsatisfying and not entertaining. Disgusting looking CGI. The editing was confusing. Ben Kingsley, despite being a good actor, couldn’t save this film, and gives a downright horrendous performance as a villain. There was some good stuff in this film, such as the costumes and locations and I felt Dastan’s character development was good. But it was a pretty awful film.

    The Prince of Parkour. It’s a perfectly fine and super fun adventure flick. It’s cheesy, very light, has a good cast of actors, and some cool action scenes. I only wished there were more time shenanigans. You know… the thing that should have been the whole point of the movie. I haven’t played any of the video games other than the very first one, so I can’t comment how close this is to the games. I suspect not much at…

    As a Persian I actually don’t hate this. I was comparing the representation in the Prince of Persia to The Odyssey since both movies depict an ancient culture. They did both fail terribly in hiring any actors that are actually from the cultures they represent, but you can tell that the teams making Prince of Persia actually did some research, as reflected in the costume and set design.     The nostalgia kick continues, honestly don’t understand the hate, it’s a fun and entertaining movie. Along with that I loved how if you do the right thing and follow your heart the most purposeful comes into fruition. Also the aspect how some people are truly blessed but greed overshadows what they can see. From Dasdan perspective the uncle had everything but the uncle had nothing in his eyes and was willing to sacrifice all of humanity to get it. Really speaks to gratefulness and the importance of it I. society now days.

    Maybe I don’t like this movie because it was one of my ex-girlfriend’s favorite films ever. Maybe I don’t like it because I was convinced one of the characters was Karl Urban. Maybe it’s that this movie just wants to be the Brendan Fraser Mummy 11 years after its release. Maybe it’s the white men playing Persians. Maybe it’s the bad effects and shots and dialogue (the ostrich line gets a pass). Maybe this movie is just awful.

    I know and I dont care if this movie was mid. Jake Gyllenhaal is hot, so 4 stars. I also got this movie in my socking as a kid so fuck the haters of this mid ash movie. Shits peak to me. Honest opinion, just needed more depth to be good imo cause I just was not invested the second time around watching ts. Felt like the assassin’s creed movie but I felt even more taken out by it.     This brand of movie is exactly my taste. Whatever vibe Prince of Persia, Clash of the Titans, and John Carter is – thats my favorite flavor. Something about a semi-bloated, flashy, stunt-focused, and ridiculous mystical adventure movie gets me GOING. That being said; I feel like this COULD’VE BEEN a good movie, but the editing was so choppy, the writing was shockingly misogynistic, and the casting was… a choice. I wish Jake Gyllenhaal couldve saved this movie but ALAS!
