No one does Stephen King like Frank Darabont. He even included a nice little nod to The Dark Tower in the beginning of the film when you see Thomas Jane’s character painting Roland and the Tower in a field of roses. You can tell he’s a true fan. The way he handles the story is excellent. The humans get so crazy and so primitive they make the monsters almost inconsequential. Marcia Gay Harden was just brilliant. I’d take the mist over her any day. Personally, I loved the way he handled the end. Yes, the story being open-ended is great, but Darabont’s take on it was fantastic, brutal. The perfect touch.

What. The. Fuck. Pardon my language, but this is one of the most fucked up endings I’ve ever seen on screen. FUCK! Excuse me while I literally can’t even over here. I’ll let you know when I’m able to even again. P.S. When bad CGI happens to good movies though… P.P.S. Sorry, I realize this is not a quality review of any kind, but FUCK.

Frank Darabont is a hack. Relying on divisive, hateable characters and conflict instead of nuance and an actual story.

I’m sorry… just didn’t care for this one. The dialogue was lazy, the acting was unrealistic (only Marcia Gay Harden as the craziest person in the cast seemed believable). I thought it was going to be revealed that “the mist” was making people do and say ridiculous things but it’s just the weird Stephen King character templates.

i would be pressing my ninnies on the glass door to scare the monsters

B&W chef’s kiss Beautifully crafted, controversial but I liked the sense the camerawork gave, terrific performances from most, cgi and effects can be ignored fine, what a brutal ending. Absolutely love love love the idea. Breaking down and understanding people and their relation to each other in distress, in such a plain, human setting. Just an amazing first act. So visceral and appropriate, how the mist serves the drama. So tense, drew me in and kept me. Unfortunately it dulls…
