I hate this film for confronting me with the fact that I’m old. I love it for the fact that it makes me not care about it. Tom Hanks gives one of the best comedy performances ever. Whenever I am subjected to one of those awful comedies that get shat out these days I’ll just watch that piano scene again to get it out of my system.

watching this movie for the first time in 2018 is BONKERS. i really dug it but soooo much of the comedy is actually horrifying and so much of the sentimentality is actually hilarious. what a trip. there’s a scene where tom hanks walks into his mom’s house after he’s been magically ahed and she freaks out and backs away, whispering “please don’t please don’t please don’t” as a strange man she doesn’t recognize walks towards her screaming “it’s me, i’m your son” also, when they eventually remake this movie (let me write it) i hope it exists in a universe where the movie Big is a thing and the kid wakes up as the older version of himself and immediately thinks “oh fuck. I think I got Big’d”

What I like about Big is that it’s one of those comedies you keep hearing about, but doesn’t feel dated

Can’t help but smile at this one, even with the lowkey disturbing 13 year old x 30 year old relationship.

I was in the mood for a Saturday night comfort film and found it in Big! The scene where Hanks and Loggia play chopsticks on the piano in the toy store made me smile more than any other movie I’ve watched this year. This was a fun, whimsical movie about the energy and joy of childhood and how to rediscover our inner kid as adults! Adding it to my mental list of comfort movies!

In Big, a woman literally sleeps with a child in a man’s body. To me, this is the core message of the film: most men are just like him—mature only on the outside. Ironically, the young boys in the movie actually show more qualities of grown-up men than his actual adult friends, who are completely childish and superficial.

Oh man. Did I love this film as a kid. But oh boy, does this raise some seriously ethical conundrums as an adult. I’m rating this through my kid eyes because that’s the last time I watched this film and I’m happy to stay there. The chopsticks scene is awesome.

Good 80s movie. Tom Hanks gives a funny/great performance. Romance subplot kinda weird but it was a different time and a woman directed this so I trust her vision. By God, Robert Loggia was in this movie. Everybody loves Robert Loggia.

charming minus the fact that susan discovers that she contributed to pedophilia and it made everything weird ∘ ∘ ∘ ( °ヮ° ) ? i loveeee the storytelling overall, and i haven’t seen this since i was a kid! it has a sentimental touch that hits differently as you get older :”)

It’s weird how Mrs. Baskin goes the whole movie thinking her son was abducted by pedophiles or something. What does he tell her when he’s back? The truth? Also movie jobs are all so dumb, I wish I could get paid to be creative

If it was 1988 and I went to the theater with my girl to see this, I’m sure it would kill. But sadly its 2026 and I’ve seen this premise countless times and this does not hit. In fact, it’s fucked up. His parents think he’s getting trafficked. I was rooting for him to fuck that lady (feminist style). But got the ick when he did. Picture yourself in that writer’s room. Good riddance. I rolled my eyes during the first…

Big is definitely a film that I was too harsh on, or too focused on what I didn’t like about it on my last rewatch, and really isn’t that bad of a movie. I remember being really bothered by the romance storyline of the film but got a lot more enjoyment out of it now. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still batshit insane, but there is something charming about an adult kinda become a kid again when engaging with someone…

I wish I were big. Big may seem like a simple fantasy comedy about a child who suddenly becomes an adult, but it actually carries a surprisingly deep message about childhood, adulthood, and the loss of innocence. For me, the best part is how the film uses play and imagination as powerful symbols throughout the story.

I love this more than the first time even though I was Josh’s exact age before. I think I find myself relating to him more now. I too, am too big. When you finally look into the eyes of the thirteen year old you mistakenly had sex with and smile 🙂 but inside you are 🤥😓🤮

Película #169 de 2026 With the eyes of a kid, you want to be a grown up; and with the eyes of an adult you want to be a kid. -What is so special about Baskin? -He’s a grown up. Can we talk about the nightmare Josh’s parents must have lived through? Their son has disappeared and a man called them to tell them that they had Josh. It’s something the movie doesn’t show you, but it’s happening. We never see Josh’s parents or the torture they are going through, but if you think about it, it’s horrifying. I love being able to watch Tom Hanks for the whole movie…

BIG entertainment. Big is a childish, funny and heartfelt film, but man It did affect me emotionally. One of those warm, timeless classics that is very enjoyable and never gets boring. It feels somewhat similar to “Home Alone” in the way it follows a child going through an adventure while struggling to reunite with his family, except this time he’s in an adult body. I’m sure this movie will only grow on me with every rewatch. And Tom Hanks is the…

Being a Kid Was Easier A charming and genuinely funny movie that mostly works thanks to a young Tom Hanks, who completely sells the idea of a kid suddenly finding himself in an adult body. There are some really entertaining moments and the whole thing has that unmistakable feel-good charm of an ’80s comedy. Nothing that completely blew me away, but a fun and enjoyable watch nonetheless. 3 out of 5 Toys for „Big“. 🪀

Fun! Tom Hanks is incredibly charismatic and really sells the entire premise; if only we could have, perhaps, reworked the romance plotline (see: she’s still into him even after she realizes he’s a 12 year-old boy?)

Such a sweet and charming film. Tom Hanks is great and I love the way the film explores childhood and growing up without taking itself too seriously. The story is simple but really entertaining and it has so much warmth. A really lovely film.
