Rather than focusing on the meteoric rise of Noah Kahan, this documentary takes a much more intimate route. It’s less about fame and more about the complicated human experience behind it. Kahan brings viewers into his hometown, introduces us to his family, and speaks candidly about body dysmorphia, anxiety, and mental health in a way that feels disarmingly honest. One of the most powerful themes of the film is the reminder that healing isn’t linear. The film also captures that strange anxiety that can follow success — the feeling of catching lightning in a bottle and wondering if you’ll ever be able to do it again. In a documentary where he easily could have leaned into the story of his explosive rise, Kahan instead chooses vulnerability. He shows us the messy parts of life, the uncertainty, and the self-doubt. That honesty is exactly why so many, myself included, adore him.

such a wonderfully done documentary. probably my favorite musician doc i have watched. he was extremely honest and vulnerable in this and had me crying throughout the whole thing. i only discovered his music in 2024 but it truly changed my life. he is my favorite artist and i relate so heavily to his music and just love him endlessly for trying to break the stigma around mental health. so incredibly proud of him and he deserves all of this success.

I love how open and honest Noah is about mental health and life in the spotlight. Despite his fame, he is a very relatable guy and so effortlessly funny! It was interesting to get a peek into his family’s dynamic. You could definitely feel the tension in some moments, but also see how much they love each other. I definitely felt bad for his dad in some scenes. Noah seemed very in touch with his emotions, especially when talking about…

Sometimes I’m glad to know the people I support are worthy of the fame they’ve been given. What an absolute gem of a human this man is.

A really intimate view of fame and mental health. I found myself relating to Noah a lot more than I expected, his vulnerability was really beautiful

Strong in honesty, and stripped of every stage light, this documentary is. Out of Body earns a tearful 4 stars from me, and it comes with confessions. I delayed watching this for the silliest of reasons: it stupidly, selfishly bothered me that everyone loves him now, that my hidden gem became huge, that dumb hipster instinct of wanting to keep your artists preserved from fame. Don’t get me wrong, I’m truly happy for him, and honestly it’s beautiful to see…

I am shook at how quality this documentary is. The honest look at Noah (& his family) introduces a sizable amount of perspective to his recent discography. Truthfully, watching this was the most emotional I have felt from a show or film in many years.

This felt very real and relatable to me and I really appreciate the ways he spoke about his mental health. I’m sad for him and for all of us sometimes but I’m glad he speaks about it and that people in his life know about it all. The music throughout is just so good.

Enjoyed learning more about Noah’s background and how the challenges he and his family have experienced have influenced his music. He seems like a good person who deserves the success he’s achieved. I also learned that Vermont has produced a pretty iconic triple threat: Noah 🤝 Bernie 🤝 Ben and Jerry’s
