I normally like to give all crappy streaming Xmas movies 5 stars but I genuinely don’t remember what happened in this🫤🧞♂️. And I don’t think the weed🌿 & scotch🥃 is entirely to blame. But I got a few chuckles & a wholesome Christmassy vibe so I’m good🥰. Still a 7/10 for Melissa McCarthy. She carries this fairly mediocre movie💪🏻. Love her energy as always.❤️

Melissa McCarthy doing Melissa McCarthy, but make it Christmas. Loved it. They need to bottle what ever special gift Melissa has because this woman is a treasure and needs to be protected at all costs. And I must say she looked so beautiful with red hair in this.

Wasn’t planning on reviewing this, but I enjoyed it enough to drop some words. First of all, I had no idea this was penned by Richard Curtis. Then again, I had no idea this existed until people started to log in over here. genie is such a cute, hilarious & heartwarming holiday film. I had soo much fun with this!! the cast is amazing & melissa mccarthy is yet again a scene stealer as flora.

Bernard: I messed up my family. I wish I could go back in time. Genie: You can’t go back in time. Bernard: darn (90 movie minutes later) Genie: just kidding. You can totally go back in time. Bernard: Yay! I hate this movie because of it’s ridiculous plot and resolution. Melissa McCarthy deserves so much better. She is absolutely charming and funny and practically saved this for me. I’m not really sure where I land on this one. I didn’t even realize it was a Christmas movie until I was already watching it, so that caught me off guard. The biggest issue is that the premise feels incredibly dated. It was quite decent actually. I like the gags and stuff. I don’t really agree with the reviews from other because it is supposed to be a Christmas movie for families. I think it stands as it is I also don’t get the part where “why didn’t ask for a million dollars with that unlimited wishes” because Bernard was written as a selfless person. The Christian relation was not a coincidence but was an anchor to the spirit of Christmas; you don’t need a lot of money to be happy with your family.

I am not a big fan of Melissa McCarthy. I do like the work of Richard Curtis. This movie puts the two of them together. Melissa plays a genie who helps a hard working man who has lost his family. Melissa tries to help reconnect them. This is a bad movie. It is not funny. It is very predictable. una comedia navideña bastante ligera que no pretende ser nada demasiado profundo y eso se nota desde el principio tiene una premisa simpática —un genio que concede deseos en el mundo moderno— pero en vez de explotar eso con mucha creatividad se queda en una historia bastante predecible y cómoda lo mejor es el carisma de melissa mccarthy que aporta energía y humor incluso cuando el guion no ayuda demasiado también paapa essiedu cumple bien como el protagonista más “normal” que sirve de contraste el problema es que muchas situaciones se sienten recicladas de otras comedias navideñas sin giros que realmente sorprendan
