Two of the things that make this movie such a delight: 1. Belligerent Mark Wahlberg. Most other modes of Mark Wahlberg are deadly dull, but he’s so funny when he’s angry, even in a PG-13 comedy. 2. McKay stages action scenes as if this were a legitimate action movie and not a parody of same. (Ditto Talladega Nights.) Too many directors of comedies don’t care enough about such matters of style.

a better critique of capitalism than The Big Short and a harsher indictment of all our Bush era excess than VICE and, honestly, the more I think about it — and this isn’t easy to admit — this is more laugh-out-loud funny than Step Brothers. The street meat vendor saying “but no drinks” and the whisper fight at the funeral and the criminals continually re-laquering Allen’s wooden gun and the killing of The Rock within the first 15 mins are some of the most perfectly executed, well directed bits I’ve ever seen in my adult life. *This* is Adam McKay’s masterpiece.

75/100 Never has a Ferrell/McKay production strayed so far off the path of their trademark surrealism, and that’s precisely why The Other Guys is such a breath of fresh air. Even with some comedic moments that don’t quite hit their mark, McKay’s film is an outrageously goofy and grounded buddy cop extravaganza. Ferrell and Wahlberg were practically made for each other, and their emasculating/macho dynamic is nothing less than side-splitting. Wahlberg’s facial expressions in particular are just fucking hilarious. However, the main reason why The Other Guys works, even more so than the titular relationship, is the constant craftsmanship of the action set-pieces. Every car chase and gunfight is tremendously fun and energetic, with perfect song choices and lively camerawork…

“I am a peacock, you gotta let me fly!” This might be the funniest Will Ferrell performance. I forgot how funny this movie is and how much I still quote it to this day. I love the chemistry between Ferrell amd Wahlberg is this movie, they bounce off of eachother really well and they are both absolutely hilarious. This is the best comedic performance of Wahlberg’s career, I am not a fan of the guy but I can admit when…

“You learned to dance like that sarcastically?” This movie is the type of story that my senior year Econ teacher would assign three 12 page articles about and have to draw a chart on the whiteboard to explain them Mark Wahlberg looks and acts like a grown up Greg Heffley

we needed something to throw on for the whole family at the beach and the complementary Netflix saved the day— haven’t watched this in years and for some reason always considered it one of my most hated of McKay’s early comedies— have no idea what the fuck I was on— this movie’s fucking hysterical— some of the densest jokes per minute this crew’s ever done all while somehow making a legitimately compelling and New York-loving crime movie with very clear…

“I’M A PEACOCK, YOU GOTTA LET ME FLY” My Dad suggests this most times we are trying to pick a film and I swear it gets better with every rewatch so I don’t mind at all. The whole opening sequence with The Rock and Samuel L Jackson is just perfection. “Aim for the bushes?” kills me 😭 Pimps Don’t Cry is a beautiful song as well, someone get me tissues 🤧 Sheila is a queen. Easily Will Ferrell’s best comedy, although Anchorman is still one of my favourites.

Ce film fait l’exploit d’être un escalier descendant vers le bêtise, nan c’est fort. Rares sont les films où Dwayne Johnson et Samuel L. Jackson meurent aussi stupidement.

Will Farrell and Mark Wahlberg mark for a great combo. This was a great viewing seeing them bicker with one another. This movie was a little all over the place but made enough sense. I had a lot of laughs watching this but it could have been better with a few brews and the boys. I liked how quotable the movie was as well “aim for the bushes”, “call ourselves the Febreze Brothers, cause it’s feeling so fresh right now”

Fucking unwatchable. This is the last time I take movie recommendations from reddit.com/r/movies. McKay’s anus is straddling the fence between parody and sincerity. It looks uncomfortable. And, I wish a dynastic ancestral shame upon those responsible at HBO who decided to AI-upscale their library for streaming.

The Rock and Samuel L. Jackson jumping off a building to their death 😭 Ice-T narrating this was funny asf like what’s your connection? Thought he’d make an appearance or something (I’m 95% confident Ice T is voicing the movie if not this looks bad for thinking it was) All detectives have survival instincts of a fart. Unfortunately I can’t rate this higher bc I kept getting bored and distracted smh

I still believe this is the best McKay movie and Will Ferrell movie by a country mile. Shame we didn’t get a sequel but with the subject matter it touches on and the year it was released I’m not surprised. Some of the funniest lines I’ve heard in a film (we call that a soup kitchen) and the “Aim for the Bushes” is still hilarious every time I see it!!

Pretty disappointed. I saw so many funny clips of like the rock and Samuel Jackson saying “jump for the bushes” or Mark Wahlberg hitting on Ryan goslings wife (🙄) but other than the clips the rest of the movie is mid and way to high IQ for me and for a comedy. Like I was so lost in who owned what and who owed who.

Such a funny movie. An underrated film for Will Farrell on his resume. Love Terry’s character is good at ballet, knows art and can play the harp for the sole purpose of making fun of people who enjoy thosse forms of media. The TLC bit is a hilarious niche choice that lands everytime. Allan having hot ass women he has no business being with is gold. The pimp back story is so random like so many things in this movie yet it still feels like it has action and a story more than a gag movie. Solid watch with any crowd for sure.

Decent movie, not that funny. The plot was weird, and for a comedy movie (bar a few moments), it really wasn’t that funny. The end credits are interesting, but other than that, this was a very forgettable movie (with a surprising number of A-listers).

Funny, but didn’t knock my socks off. Nice to see Will Ferrell play pretty much the exact same role that he always does, and the star studded cast was fun to keep up with. Not too much more analysis than that. “What accounting firm isn’t open at 11am on a Tuesday?” “Aim for the bushes.”

Ah this is gonna be a hot take but I just found the film boring. Idk it really did not do it for me i feel like some jokes definitely did land for me but the problem is those that did land were about 20% of all the jokes everything else was just dull i guess i think i had to high expectations for this film so that might be why im utterly disappointed. I do think the last 45…

- Synopsis
- Unlike their heroic counterparts on the force, desk-bound NYPD detectives Gamble and Hoitz garner no headlines as they work day to day. When a seemingly minor case turns out to be a big deal, the two cops get the opportunity to finally prove to their comrades that they have the right stuff.
