When everything is a joke, is anything actually funny? The first half is overly ridiculous and toothless even for Waititi. The CGI is often awful. The second half makes actual attempts at emotion, but it feels soooooo forced at this point and barely works. Luckily a terrifying Christian Bale as Gorr is at least something worth paying attention to for the performance even if they completely waste a badass villain concept by rushing through it. I LOVE where it ended up eventually, and a less goofball and more serious sequel would have me interested, so there is that. And it’s a very good thing that I really, really like Guns N’ Roses. But I’m just tired of giving a pass to Marvel when they’re lazy, and this is maybe the worst I’ve seen from them yet when it comes to that. 2022 Awards Cycle Ranked Ranked: Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)

almost 30 feature length entries into this franchise and now it feels to me like the human brain can only really take in so many of these generic deep fried mega tentpole adventures before it starts to collapse in on itself and now they don’t really look like much of anything anymore and aren’t very distinguishable from each other regardless of content. i shouldn’t be zoning out every single movie during the most high energy fight scenes. this was fine! but are we done?

Even by the standards of the endless content machine this one is a total tossed-off shrug. They gotta stop making these.

It is not my favorite Thor movie, but I did like it. I have obviously already seen this one, but I had to watch it again. Jane is officially dead in the MCU. I think that’s such a shame. And Thor is finally a father, so that’s good. Perhaps in the future the girl will take his place.

Cathing up with the MCU before doomsday. Dont really understand the hate for this one i really enjoyed it. It might be becouse Thor is one of my favorite marvel characters but i thought it was good. It had a really good cast and i did not expect to see Christian bale and Russell crowe at all. I thought Christian bale was a good villain. I do also understand some of the hate towards this movie becouse it was a…

Christian Bale is the best thing about this movie by a mile, meanwhile Natalie Portman is genuinely the worst part. I genuinely physically cringed at the whole “my name isn’t Lady Thor” thing.

This is the fucking anti-movie. The script feels like a first draft. The movie visually speaking, looks like the lowest effort that’s been put into one of these. It is insulting to its source material, straight up making fun of it, and the God Butcher was maybe the best Thor comic I ever read. Jane deserved waaaaaaay better than this shit. Everyone talks like they’re being played by Taika, that’s not auteur it’s lazy. I love Ragnarok by the way. I guess that’s what’s most upsetting is this team can clearly do much, much, much better than whatever the fuck this was going for.

Watched this for the second time with my Mom to get caught up before Doomsday. It was alright! Some of the visuals were amazing, while others not so much. I loved what they with Jane Foster and I think it was a fitting send off for her character. Some of the humor worked for me, some of it didn’t. Although my Mom seemed to really like all the jokes. I wish the main villain got more screen time cuz he’s…

I can’t tell whether I liked it or not but ig it was more of a nothing burger than anything. Like a diet version of ragnarockk or whatever. Kill Jane bc you don’t know what to do with her. It’s not his daughter but ig it is his daughter. Patrick Batemen’s preference as evil Batman was ok. I was charmed by the kid but 2 fucking minutes of screen time and you get in the title?!?! The bride of Frankenstein…

defo bad but not NEARLY as bad as dark world (legit if korg died this movie would be so much better)

the elements of a GREAT Thor movie were here, and some scenes were genuinely awe inducing, but Taika just can’t help himself to make a joke out of mostly everything

It’s not a terrible movie, but could’ve been worse

I’ve never had the vitrolic hatred for this movie that others do, but it is an absolute disappointment compared to its predecessor. That one section where Gorr and Thor fight in monochrome is great though.
-
N
Was kinda disappointed but this movie still had some good moments. Zeus got one tapped, that is crazy😭😭 The fight scenes were fun to watch aswell, but this movie sadly had to many corny moments for me. Hopefully Thor gets so serious action in Doomsday or atleast the next Thor movie
-
F
Watching MCU movies I had postponed: Wait, now I feel I’m missing something, this movie wasn’t half as bad as people claimed to be. I actually had fun watching this. The high-contrast fight was cool. Yeah it was supercorny and unfunny trying-to-force-funny at times, but it wasn’t horrible. I mean this is an MCU film, not like there should be high standards.

This movie genuinely isn’t as bad as people say. It’s a pretty good movie. I love the humor and darker tones in this movie as well as the more serious characters. I also just love Thor.

it actually isn’t that bad on rewatch jesus 😭 bale’s performace tho jesus christ he’s exceptional

The balance of comedy and action superhero movje was at a perfect ration in Ragnarok. This movie is so freakin goofy that its hard to take it seriously. Which sucks because it wastes one of Thor’s greatest villains in Gorr. And worst wasted a great actor in Christian Bale. The Jane Foster storyline also suffers from the goofy vibe of the film. Her death has no emotional pull just like Gorr’s story and reason for fighting doesnt do that either. However it is fun though, those freakin goats.

If this came out in 1984 everyone would be gagging over the campness
-
S
I was way too kind when I first watched this in theatres, it’s pretty bad, way too silly, and the tonal whiplash it has with it’s serious moments is crazy, Ragnarok worked because it mostly stroke a balance but this is all over the place and it’s made all the more disappointing because a story with Mighty Thor and Gore the God Butched could’ve been pretty great.
-
J
Probably the most sexually frustrated superhero film. So much wasted potential all because Taika Waititi would rather get some nookie than do his job. Also, this and NWH really could NOT figure out the volume. Just truly unfinished and ugly films.

ngl this is a overhated movie it not bad but it is in the middle and watchable movie, there are brights spots, the cast, some of the humor, val, thor, korg, gorr, mighty thor jane foster but then there are the screaming goats….so goodish movie

JOGA ESSA BOMBA DE FILME NO LIXO NÃO percam o tempo de vcs

This movie isn’t as bad as a lot of you whined about. The issue is the tone every time you switched between Gorr and Thor & company with their antics. It’s just jarring. Christian Bale deserved a better movie.

Not good. Bad cgi, questionable acting, not good story. The only good thing about this movie was its villain. Unfortunately a wasted performance from Christian Bale. 1.5/5
-
N
I think I liked it more my second watch. I really like Christian Bale in this. Some of the shadow magic is a little much but I do feel like as a villain he’s got a good story and honestly kind of content with their match up even though he clearly took it easy on them in the finale. If you remove the screaming goats it’s an extra half star
-
J
Honestly better than I expected it to be- good comedy, enjoyed all the mini Thor children
-
N
Nah, this one doesn’t have it. The transition between serious, badass Thor and goofy Thor feels clunky and weird in this flick, and I blame that on the writing and direction. I just didn’t vibe with the story.

Is this a joke to you???

Yes Taika Waititi you’re so funny is that what you wanted all of us to say? Haha funny movie? I can’t help but wonder if Marvel will ever succeed in doing this character any real justice. Thor has some of the greatest untapped potential of any hero and the MCU insists on boiling him down into comedic relief. Disappointing as usual
-
L
This was lowkey a banger🫣

I know many people don’t like this but I enjoyed it. Soundtrack is awesome. If you pay attention to the story it’s actually solid. Yes a little too much comedy but it’s not a bad thing overall. Haters gonna hate because that’s what they do.

This film was better than I had expected hearing how it’s all jokes and nothing is serious but to my surprise while yes it does have a bit too much humor it does let it self have serious moments especially with the villian Gorr the God butcher who while you understand him and why he is evil you still know ultimately you want to see Thor stop him. The action is fun I love how creative they used Mjölnir being…
-
͡
perhaps it was all to justify why Thor, one of the goofiest and most irresponsible superheroes in the MCU, should have a child (not biological, just the wish come true of the enemy who almost killed him for 2 hours and 1 minute)
-
D
Not the best Marvel movie, but I still had a good time with it. Gorr was easily my favorite part, and Christian Bale was great in the role. Overall, a fun and enjoyable movie.

i mean.. is not THAT bad i guess.. it’s actually kind of funny so i prefer that than it being boring y’know, but also Natalie Portman coming back for this movie was not on my bingo card. So sad that she had cancer 💔, but at least she was very strong, both being thor and being Jane. i don’t even know how the actors agreed to do this after reading the script

Quite literally one of the most unpleasant movie experiences of my life. I say that with no hyperbole. A movie shouldn’t make you ask yourself, “Am I sad?” or “Am I in a bad mood?” Nothing worked. Nothing made me smile. Nothing will give me my two hours back. Marvel has missed the mark on a handful of occasions, but never so much so as with Love and Thunder.

A very fun lighthearted movie. Not the best but I think if you are taking this way too seriously you have issues. It’s just lighthearted goofy fun.

-
J
I like the humor in this one, especially because the cancer/death/last wish topic is pretty hard. Some effects are really terrible. Bale as the villain is great but sadly wasted potential
-
D
It drags and has no redeaming moments, the entire time one watches, all one can do is wait for it to be over.
