all of the dwarves singing ‘the misty mountains cold’ while gathered around bag end’s roaring hearth is so moving that it *almost* justifies the whole insane exercise. almost.

Très beau, très bien réalisé, toujours une ambiance et une musique incroyables… mais beaucoup trop étiré. Thorin fait de l’aura farming pendant 3h et on s’attache finalement assez peu aux personnages.

Out of the three hobbit films, this one is by far the best. It captures all of the magic of the original LOTR trilogy, alongside introducing its own identity and ideas. The score is amazing, visually it still holds up.

I know I’m not the only one to say this, and I know this is nothing new, but I really wanted to see what GDT would have done with this. This just felt too much like “LOTR but with endless filler and make it the Hobbit” rather than its own thing. It’s a real shame, because I think two films for the Hobbit feels right, and it could have worked. But instead we just get watered down LOTR with way too much CGI and not enough heart.

Que filme lindo mds, o bilbo em francês é muito bom (recomendo, apesar de ser meio difícil de sincronizar as legendas), não sei como existem pessoas que dão poucas estrelas pra essa obra, esse filme envelheceu como vinho. Apesar de ser longo, os personagens são muito cativantes e existe momentos que você pensa que deveria existir um 38 nesse mundo pq pqp cada situação que esses anão e esse Hobbit se meteram.

Got home from school today and decided to watch a throwback. Unpopular opinion, but I really enjoyed The Hobbit movies. I haven’t seen this one since I was a kid, but the best way to describe it is it feels like you’re constantly on a theme park rollercoaster. You get fun nods to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, cool new added lore inspired by the book, and a mix of thrilling action and heartfelt moments with an epic score…

Os personagens são chatos, o “Vilão” é chato e sem carisma, até o Bilbo muitas das vezes é insustentável, chega a cansar toda a “Jornada Inesperada” antes de chegar nos território dos elfos, pq parece que é somente lá que a história realmente começa

Starting a new trilogy off strong is a bit of work for anyone else, but Peter Jackson knows how to kick things off right. The cgi use is a bit rough every now and then in terms of acting, but nothing looks too out of place thankfully, the dinner scenes in bag end are genuinely the best part of the Film.

The biggest complaint I’ve heard about this trilogy is that it shouldn’t have been stretched out across 3 movies, and boy do I agree It took 40 minutes just for them to leave The Shire, definitely was feeling the length at various times Still really good, but doesn’t touch LOTR so far Excited to see Smaug !

I am gonna rate these as if they weren’t adaptations of The Hobbit, just movies that take place in Middle Earth It’s good! Gets bogged down a tiny bit during the Goblin scenes, but the action is great. Gandalf is always aura farming to the max Radagast the Brown?? More like RadaGAS the Green 🌬️

I rewatched the movie and I wish I could say it was as good as younger me remembered. It’s certainly not a bad film, but compared to Lord of the Rings, it truly pales in comparison. I love the Misty Mountains song though.

Everything that the lord of the rings didnt have when it comes to horrible toxic masculinity in a man supposed to be the future king, this film has it and it is annoying. Also wtf is that cgi. I remember this was fire in theaters back then but this is exactly why practical effects are forever, because it is merely qe years later and this looks ridiculous while most things in lots still look amazing.

As I’m reading through the book, I’m rewatching the movies to see the differences. In the book Thorin is not such an antagonist and no mention of the arkenstone. Bilbo names Sting and eventually tells the dwarves of the ring.

The magic of the LOTR trilogy is there, but its buried somewhere under corporate greed, bloated pacing, and sub-par CG. It’s still an enjoyable, even above average film. There are wonderful landscapes, a great score, and plenty of entertaining adventures to be had in Middle Earth. But the film fails to even approach the heights of Jackson’s first three forays into Tolkien’s world, and it reeks of boardroom money grabbing in a way that would only get worse as the years go on.
