Great sequel and it builds off of and does better in almost every category over the first. The stakes feel higher, the score is perfect, character developments are better, the set pieces, production design, and just scale of everything is crazy. The carbon freezing chamber and that whole fight with Luke and Darth Vader is made so much better with the great lighting they used the whole movie. There’s no modern day flood lights most movies use to ruin it. The whole 3rd act with Luke and Darth Vader pretty much steals the show. It’s so iconic and choreographed well.

I love how they describe the dark side here. An easy way out that tricks people to think it’ll make them stronger. And Luke’s conflict with it cause he is constantly in the hurry to try and save his friends, not listening to Yoda being the reason for his defeat. Also the funniest in the original trilogy, no competition.

Arguably the best sequel ever. The character development for every character is actually absurd. The development gets so much deeper and the moments all the characters have are possibly their best moments in the trilogy. I’m a sweat for training arcs so Luke’s training with Yoda leading into the third act all the way til the end it peak cinema. Darth Vader also solidifies himself as one of the best or the best villain ever at the time with like 12 minutes of screen time. Every line of dialogue he has and everything he does is masterful. “Luke, I am your father” My mom remembers watching this movie in theaters and my grandpa (her dad) gifting her the disc to play the soundtrack at home. He had the disc player on the kitchen, where his mother was sitting, so when the music started (at full volume, of course) she startled herself so badly that more than 40 years later, my mom still remembers. for maybe the first time, after I’ve watched each of these in a row (Jan 2026), this one MIGHT just edge out A New Hope for my favorite Star Wars. Hoth, Yoda in Dagobah, Han and Leia, then the iconic scene at the end? so hard to beat. Leia kissing Luke is a strange add though, tf was George Lucas thinking on that one?

The second in the og trilogy and I definitely loved this, even more than the first film. I really like how the story unfolds and the reveal in the end (I mean I already knew he was Luke’s dad but still I can imagine how shocked audiences back in the day were and even knowing it, it’s still a pretty cool reveal). I really like how the world looks like and we get to see all of these beautiful planets like Hoth, Dagobah and Bespin with an interesting ending and a cool battle scene at the start. 🤩
