Huge improvement on the first one, in my opinion. Pop star in recovery is a much better emotional center than pro-bono therapist who is paradoxically still rich. My only hang-up with the Smile franchise is that you never know what is real and what is not. There are no rules, which can be cool, but it leaves the storyteller too much room for cheating. I was tickled to death by the editing, though, some really cool match cuts. So many jump scares. See it in Dolby if you want to have a fucking heart attack.

Ce film est dingue au niveau de l’horreur et apporte vraiment quelque chose de nouveau. L’idée, qui n’est pas nouvelle certes, du sourire est excellente et terrifiante. Le 2 est beaucoup mieux réussi que son prédécesseur avec ses rebondissements et son esthétique intelligente. C’est génial de voir une superstar comme personnage principal. La fin est choquante et réussie selon moi. Et on se rappelle des scènes du film bien après l’avoir vu. Personnellement, c’est le film qui m’a fait le plus peur de tout ceux que j’ai déjà vu. En salle, il m’avait vraiment terrifié.

Her performance was amazing but there’s not a single likeable character in this movie. Also the movie asks a lot of the viewer to just go with it. It’s also really long. I actually kinda dislike this film but the lead performance is so good I give it a decent score

I didn’t like this one as much as the og. I think the smiles could’ve definitely been creepier and the jumpscares too. I thought the very end was one of the best parts tho because it’s open to your interpretation what happens next. It’s a great way to leave room for another sequel if they wanted. Definitely won’t be lifting weights any time soon!

Instant classic. Great acting and pacing. Beautifully dark depiction of trauma and addiction (comments saying she’s an ex-addict miss the point entirely). Smile 1 was a surprise hit from a low-budget movie; this was like watching a full on Hollywood blockbuster starring the Gen Z British version of Sarah Michelle Gellar playing a Lady Gaga lookalike. Mac Miller’s Small Worlds as a movie. Wow

Genuinely the worst movie I’ve seen this year, the first movie already was not good but this one was shit on another level. You understand nothing and nothing is explained at all, they also make it very hard to like the main character let alone any other characters. The end was even worse than the one of the first movie, if you like good horror movies I don’t recommend this one at all also all the blood and wounds in the movie were so unrealistic. Just watch anything else and I promise it will be better than this absolute shit.

I felt like this film had far too many gaps between jumpscares, and the jumpscares that actually happened were lacklustre and very predictable.
