Humans were designed by evolution specifically to create this film. A masterpiece. Watching this left me in a crood-induced catatonic state for 3 days, I was rendered completely immobile, having to be fed through a feeding tube. However it was the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Not only was every fibre of my physical form dedicated to thinking about the croods during it, I formed a spiritual soul bond to the croods and now my life is intertwined with theirs. I am now the manifestation, the reincarnation of grug himself and I couldn’t be happier.

This is forever one of my favourite films, I first watched it when I was 7 and immediately fell in love. The tropical setting and blue water is what truly brought it to life. My favourite scene is when Grug is afraid in the cave near the end and he makes a drawing of his entire family, I will always cry when he draws his arms wrapped around them all. His own fear of the dark not letting getting in…

One of the most visually stunning and engrossing animated films that have ever been made. For a film that looks this good to come out in 2013 no less is a huge technical feat. The story is well paced, the characters all have their own flaws and personalities incredibly well developed. Nicholas Cage knocks it out of the park with his voice acting for this film too. If i had to watch only one movie for the rest of my life and all of eternity it would be this one.

Loved it as a kid but definitely more now as an adult. I used to watch it in Greek dub when I was in uni and felt homesick. I don’t know why but it was my comfort movie. I always cry towards the end when Grug ‘sacrifices’ himself to get his family to safety and I’m so glad it was a good ending. You can say it was to be expected since it was a kids’ movie but it still hits me every single time.

It’s always a shame when the voices don’t suit the Characters. There are so many people I would have picked over Cage to play this role, but I guess it kinda grew on me after a while. The storyline is stale and predictable, but then again the target demographic is gonna love that.
