Cinema kind of peaked with horny 90s creature features, in which Oscar winning actors were using accents the world had never witnessed before and practical effects/CGI were at odds with each other more than the characters. Even the movies that were ‘bad’ had sensual on-location sunsets and delightful camerawork. Bring back blowing shit up don’t make me say it again!! Absolutely ridiculous (and ridiculously fun) big snake riverboat jungle jam where Ice Cube is a camera man, J-Lo is a director shooting a documentary, Owen Wilson is a sound guy (I think?), Eric Stoltz is an Amazonian expert, and an opening where Danny Trejo commits suicide (after a snake attack leaves him with no other option) is all overshadowed by Jon Voight’s absurd accent and serpent-like beady eyed sleaze champion stare. This movie is a bulbous salutation of dumb 90’s fun that I kinda love… I think I’ve watched this incredibly silly movie 15 or 20 times. If this was made by Umberto Lenzi or Ruggerio Deodato in the late 70’s/early 80’s with Tomas Milian as Jon Voight’s character it would ba called Anaconda Holocaust or Anaconda Ferox, feature a Riz Ortolani score, and it would destroy every movie in that subgenre.

Como molan las pelis cutres que saben que son cutres, ya solo con el título te lo dicen todo. La peli va de una serpiente gigante que se come gente y la llaman ‘Anaconda’, a tomar por culo. En realidad es la típica peli que ves un domingo por la tarde en neox y te la acabas viendo entera.

The first time I seen this movie I was a child & It scared the f*ck out of me! 😨, however re-watching now I wasn’t overly that freaked out 🤷♀️ because I know the Annconda is CGI! 😅.

“they strike, wrap around you, hold you tighter than your true love” There’s a certain charm to movies that take themselves too seriously while being completely ridiculous. A crew goes down the Amazon, somehow manages to make every situation worse, Jon Voight is having the time of his life, and somewhere in the middle of all this there’s a giant snake eating people. Goofy dialogue, terrible CGI, and somehow very entertaining. Exactly the kind of film where the worse it gets, the more fun you’re having.

Maybe I was just in the right mood for this tonight. It’s complete nonsense but I do enjoy an Amazon setting and the brisk pace certainly helps. The dialogue is full of 90s cheese and ‘arsehole in one’ Jon Voight makes you feel sorry for the wildlife. Even the ropey CGI didn’t bother me this time. Herpetologists need not apply… Top crap!

Rooting for the snake has been one of the great joys of my life 6-pack and a playoff game or 18 holes and a QUADRUPLE G and T? A film hasn’t had me questioning what I would do in real life like this in years. Special piece of art.

El cast de esta película es todo un caso -Jennifer Lopez es una doctora que a la vez es directora de documentales, pero nunca la ves hacer nada. -John Voight hace de un villano brasileño (?) que a su vez tiene un cierto fanatismo religioso o algo así. -Owen Wilson es el relieve comedico hasta que se vuelve un psicópata y se muere. -Eric Stolz sale 10 minutos, desparece y olvidas que esta ahí hasta los últimos 20 minutos. -Y Ice Cube solo se roba el show Ah si, y Danny Trejo se mata en la escena inicial.

Hated because there’s no winking at the audiences, except from a partially digested Jon Voight. This is a genuine popcorn movie without pretensions. Yeah it has problems but get me liquored up and I will hoot and holler with anyone and everyone . . . because Anaconda brings people together.

Truly a misunderstood masterpiece…as in I was confused throughout the entire movie. What is going on with the story? How does their set keep switching between Florida & Louisiana? What exactly is a Paraguayan accent? One of the best bad movies out there though.

Anaconda é aquele tipo de filme que eu achei ok, mas nada demais. A ideia da cobra gigante é interessante, só que achei a história bem clichê e os personagens não me prenderam tanto. Dá pra assistir e passar o tempo, mas não foi um filme que me empolgou ou que eu achei tão bom quanto algumas pessoas consideram. No fim, achei bem mediano mesmo.

J’ai passé un bon moment mais montrer l’anaconda n’était pas forcément une idée incroyable. Ça aurait été mieux de montrer certaines parties ou même rien du tout. Ça gâche la peur qu’on pourrait ressentir. Un bon film nanar kitsh (même si je trouve que certains acteurs jouaient bien)

Ice cubes first like in this quoted his best song good day which was cool. Also Owen Wilson said oh my god and the woman next to him said wow which was a tease but I guess this was before the wowuniverse. Scooby doo was noise of the snake too? Bad 90s fun but still somehow better than the new one even if the effects and cgi was better in that one due to time changing but that film was terrible this was at least bad fun.

Es una película de una estrella y media, pero admito que es una película vista de pequeño que yo me creía, me asustaba y me gustaba, al igual que su secuela. I honestly have no idea if Jon Voight did a remotely passable Paraguayan accent but man did he act his ass off. Owen Wilson has never acted quite as much like Shaggy, Jennifer Lopez is giving directors grey hairs again and the CGI is The Mummy 2 levels of dogshit but I genuinely did kind of enjoy it. I probably do use this comparison all the time because I’m dead boring and uncultured but the Judge Holden vibes from Voight…

J’l’ai vu dans l’avion donc mes souvenirs sont pas trèèèès clairs mais c’était divertissant en soit. On retrouve cette sexualisation des vieux films mais j’irais pas jusqu’à dire que ça l’a gâché, le casting était franchement pas mal et l’antagoniste jouait un peu trop bien à mon goût, le nombre de fois où j’me suis dis qu’il suffisait juste de le jeter par dessus bord. Par contre on passer sur la manière de tuer du serpent qui était un peu……
