The attention and empathy extended to Draco in this is essential, the realization that the cartoon embodiment of childhood villainy up until that point could also be a broken, unprepared kid being cruelly used as a tool is one of the more effective ones made in these movies. Kloves and Yates truly got that the tragedy of all these kids (failed by their mentors as much as their enemies) was the heart of those books, as ultimately flawed as they were. So that they manage to hone in on this idea above all in this entry, and the following one especially, means these will forever have a special place in my heart… Sorry, I’m so basic.

Even though having a fat gap in between watching the whole first bit of the movie and the last thirty minutes I already knew what it was going to entail. É a pior adaptação da franquia por limar quase todas as memórias sobre o passado de Voldemort e a origem das Horcruxes para priorizar romances juvenis de colégio. I don’t think I ever hated Snape more than this movie. Draco was always a fake demon. When Harry laid him out in that bathroom I always wished Snape hadn’t have found him and healed him. Professor Slughorn was insane for even entertaining that conversation with Tom Riddle. Bellatrix just wild and destructive for no damn reason. I can’t lie The Half-Blood Prince is a fire nickname. Talvez o filme da franquia que melhor lida com a mudança do tom dentro do contexto de hogwarts. Um filme mais sombrio, com visuais e mistérios mais obscuros, mas que, ainda sim, intercala muito bem com momentos mais reais, do amadurecimento dos personagens durante a adolescência. Gosto também de como o filme termina, uma pegada meio Guerra Infinita, onde tudo deu errado, mas que existe um grande potencial pra continuidade da franquia. Achei só que faltou mais da essência de Harry Potter. Senti o filme com muito menos magia e fantasia do que o normal.
