Things I noticed this time: The big one I can’t believe I never put together before: The first defining moment of George Bailey’s life is diving in the icy water to save his brother; and Clearance has him do it again to save himself. How good is Samuel Hinds in his two brief scenes as Pa Bailey? All the portraits that Potter has of himself hanging in his office and his home. Love the scene where Potter offers George a job. It’s been done plenty of times before and since, I suppose, but having the movie’s villain be the single person who is able to articulate and sympathize with George’s lifelong frustrations like that is such a brilliant stroke. When…

Had George Bailey never been born, his wife would have suffered a horrific fate. She would have become… a spinster… who goes to the library!!!

This film is a testament to the hypnotic powers all great classics possess. Every time I watch this I want to call my mum to tell her I love her, call my mate I haven’t seen for far too long to grab a beer and it makes me want to go outside to hand out smiles to everyone I meet. It turns me into the biggest optimistic sap you’ll ever see and I love it for that!

This movie made me think about a lot of things. What if we keep sacrificing the best things for others? What if we skip important opportunities and the years pass and we just wasted them? What if it’s good for us to think about ourselves sometimes? I mean, miracles don’t happen out of nowhere (I kinda believe that if you do a good thing, it will come back to you), but what if we assume the other way around? And…

This is my number one comfort movie, it’s my favourite Christmas movie if not one of my favorite movies ever. George Bailey is one of the best written characters ever. he has character flaws, he makes many mistakes but that’s what makes him such a amazing character despite his struggles he trys to be the best man he can. All he does during the movie is help others and he succeeds sadly it comes back to bite him. this is…

I watched this movie with my dad again, just like I always do. I never watch it alone, except that one time, but even then, mid through movie my dad came and watched it together with me. He knows every single line. He could watch it in any language that isn’t his own, and he’ll still understand every single word. He actually also did that once. I was so surprised. Not even I could do that with my own favorite movie of all time.

A vida é maravilhosa! ❣️

“What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That’s a pretty good idea. I’ll give you the moon, Mary.” “I’ll take it. Then what?” “Well, then you can swallow it, and it’ll all dissolve, see… and the moonbeams would shoot out of your fingers and your toes and the ends of your hair… am I talking too much?”…

The bits with drama about a man stuck in a town and who’s endlessly frustrated about it are compelling. The angels and pretty much the entire movie after he gets on the bridge – not so much.

This movie is what it means to be alive. When one’s life seems to be teetering on the edge of the cliff that is depression any one action or event can push one over, eradicating all rational thought and making one believe the only thing one can do is end it all. But he through true Devine intervention he then learns that his life is not all for nought but rather is a gift no matter the circumstances as you…

If I wasn’t such a great fan of films, this right here would be the last movie I’d ever review it can’t get any better I am convinced. I put this above all films I’ve ever seen in the entirety of my life, I may even take a break from watching anything after this.

a film that somehow makes life itself feel like the greatest gift. so warm, sincere and deeply human. it never needs to be cynical to be profound, and by the end it completely earns every bit of its sentimentality. james stewart is incredible, but what really got me is how the film slowly reminds you that a meaningful life isn’t measured by money, success or how extraordinary your story looks from the outside. sometimes you have no idea how much you matter to the people around you. genuinely beautiful cinema.

(1946-2024), I’m maybe 78 years late to watch this masterpiece. Will make it as my all time fav showcase to watch it time after times. Damn it’s a piece of art.

- Synopsis
- A holiday favourite for generations... George Bailey has spent his entire life giving to the people of Bedford Falls. All that prevents rich skinflint Mr. Potter from taking over the entire town is George's modest building and loan company.
