   87 Could probably count on one hand the making-of documentaries that I prefer to the film itself, and this is one of them. A devastating ode to lost collaborators and the tedious healing power of filmmaking. So many special little grace-notes that either broke my heart or mended it back together again.

    Miyazaki per fare il ragazzo e l’arione ci ha messo dentro praticamente tutta la sua vita e questo documentario lo spiega al 100%, fantastico. Maestro lei per me sarà sempre un punto di riferimento.

    Documentaries are, in my opinion, harder to review than fictional films. You’re faced with what those are meant to reproduce, the ordinary and crude reality, but instead of dealing with a faked version of it in favour of narrative structures, you are, at least allegedly, watching life in its rawest version. Of course, montage, edition and pace still count a lot when it comes to making a good documentary; Hardly anyone will tell you about this one that it doesn’t…

    Miyazaki is translated in the English subtitles as having used the word “nonplussed” correctly. I wept. This is a thoughtful and present accounting of the many things, conscious and subconscious, that came together for The Boy and the Heron to exist and I am so thankful it does.

    One of the big privilege of my life is having Hayao Miyazaki’s movies accompanying me in my youth till my 29-years old self now… So this documentary felt like such a comforting treat. Like walking into your close friend’s bedroom for the first time: Expectedly ordinary, and so so beautifully theirs. (Ahhh I cried so many times watching this… I love you Miyazaki, Takahata, Suzuki, and the whole Studio Ghibli gang)

    Hayao Miyazaki is such a little grumpy old man, I watched this with my dad and I think if I worked with him I would want to kill myself, but I guess being a great artist is like that, having strict rules and being fully immersed in the world he created himself. But I still love him very much, his work ethic is amazing

    Te quiero mucho Miyazaki, gracias por darme personajes femeninos siendo ejemplos a seguir. Es un gran genio y gran trabajo detrás de sus grandes trabajos.     La empecé a ver el 8/8 y me quedé en el minuto 26 porque sentía que estaba mirando el vacío,puedo decir que hasta me parecía aburrido ,aun asi quise darle una oportunidad porque no puedo juzgar un documental/peli solo por los primeros minutos.Pero luego de que al dia siguiente llegara al minuto 1:12:00 me di cuenta de que este documental era un auténtico desperdicio de tiempo.Es muy repetitivo además de que parece(o al menos a mi) que no esta bien…
