“counting to one and counting to two…” -review for hide and seek- the best tv shows are the ones you binge in one sitting without getting bored for even a minute. that is, without a doubt, the second season of the chestnut man. i feel like a lot of people are still unaware of this danish crime thriller but if you’re looking for a gloomy, atmospheric nordic noir series, this should absolutely be your next watch. the returning detectives find themselves tangled up in yet another disturbing case. the setup alone is more than intriguing and, thanks to some incredibly smart editing choices, the show pulls you into its world within the first five minutes. from there on, the story…

Incredibly satisfying second season of this nordic thriller with a pretty good twist, palpable mood and a thrilling mystery. The ‘Hilary Clinton’ bit is one of the funniest moments I’ve seen this year. This is the kind of output you should have if you take multiple years between seasons.

► Watch my full review in this video If you’re someone who appreciates dark and atmospheric Scandinavian thrillers – this mini-series is something you absolutely need in your life. It has everything you want from the genre: a complex story, surprising revelations, flawed characters, complicated family dynamics, crimes that get increasingly more gruesome, and of course, moody, autumnal, Scandinavian visuals, as the story unfolds in October.

—– Chestnut Man season 2 —— it took me a few hours to get over that episode 3 The Chestnut Man season 2 is just as good as the first..this time it’s a bit darker ,stakes are high and more unpredictable which is the show’s biggest USP. However there is one major disadvantage..how the writers handled the main characters..i was shocked and pissed off by episode 3 WHATT WHYY NOO 😤.. just didn’t make any sense. Even though the reveal of the killer wasn’t particularly big surprising, i still loved the series overall The acting was excellent and i really hope they come back with another season but i just won’t be forgetting how they handled that episode 3 anytime soon i binge watched season 1 when it was released. If you haven’t seen it yet you should definitely consider watching it…

S2 – Just as good, but I thought the unexpected death wasn’t used very well.

The Chestnut Man Season 1 (Netflix – 6 episodes – Danish) A creepy police procedural set in Denmark has a fabulous first episode and great Halloween vibe throughout. The problem is that neither of our two main detectives seem appropriate to be leading a main investigation into a politically sensitive/serial killer case as they are neither particularly smart nor emotionally stable. The mystery it self is compelling and has about a 90 percent cohesion to logic about it (Except for one spoilery bit of stupidity that for the sake of logic should have gone another way) 3 1/2 star out of 5.

Overall, it was quite great, but it got a bit boring for me when I easily figured who was the culprit within the first 15mins if not, 30 minutes of watching the movie

Ah yes, a show wherein two cops– a socially competent department favorite with deep-seated emotional issues, and an outsider with a mysterious transfer history whose social ineptness makes him abrasively irritating as his instinctive brilliance makes him indispensable– hunt down a pedophilic sex killer who keeps leaving creepy twig sculptures at his crime scenes. I mean, I’d have two quarters, but it’s sorta funny that it happened twice

Flawless first season, but Season 2’s bold decision to eliminate the lead—refusing to play into standard hero tropes—makes this one of the most realistic Nordic noirs in years.

Incredibly gripping from start to finish. I loved the dark, brooding Scandinavian atmosphere – exactly the kind of crime series I can’t stop watching.
