Had no fucking idea what was going on and didn’t particularly care. There are like 600 close-ups of Charlize Theron’s face, and every one of them is a goddamn work of art, plus the stairwell sequence is an instant classic all-time great action scene that will be talked about forever.

Style over substance. I found the story a bit difficult to follow but the style sure makes up for it. Skateboard head smashing to 99 Luft Balloons, a murder spree to George Michael, 10 minute stairwell single take action scene that will give others alike a run for its money, neon lit lesbian fuck fest. Atomic Blonde is the definiton of stylish. Deduct points for not taking the opportunity to play Atomic by Blondie.

i’m a little bit in awe of this movie. between this and JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2, what the guys from 87Eleven Action Design have been able to accomplish on budgets that could barely cover Henry Cavill’s mustache-removal on JUSTICE LEAGUE… they’re changing American action cinema as we know it, and they’re just in time. just wish David Leitch wasn’t wasting hist talents on DEADPOOL 2… but who knows, maybe there’s actually reason to be optimistic?

Would not have watched it if it wasn’t playing in the background at work. I was expecting it to be gayer and I’m not sure I’m glad her lesbianism wasn’t the main plot point or sad, but somehow despite that, lesbians don’t get to be happy in this movie. The fights were cool because you do see the characters get worn down by the fight.

A little boring, a little predictable, and the bangs are questionable. Charlize cannot pull off the English accent at all, and her character has an incredibly flat affect, BUT the fight scenes are some of the best and most realistic I’ve seen in years. Pretty lighting, too.

Gave it an extra half star because the action sequences were incredible. Loved Charlize and her commitment into this. I genuinely was trying to figure out who was going to double cross who the entire time. I enjoy this type of movie every so often. Glad it was a solid film. I’d recommend a watch but no more than one.

Watched on the train to Berlin. Not quite given me a list of sights to see like In Bruges (or accidentally Mission Impossible, saw all the Prague filming locations), but still a good film to set the mood a bit. Very stylish action-spy thriller. Some nice cinematography, great use of colours throughout, especially the neon lights. Great soundtrack too, but that’s a given for a film set in the late 80s. It felt like it was so obsessed with twists…

It has a first-ballot HOF one-shot sequence, and Charlize Theron…My god, I can barely comprehend her hotness. It makes all the sense in the world how David Leitch got to make even more massive movies after this, including my beloved Fall Guy. I think I had to watch the movie about 5 times before the plot made sense, which is probably why this one didn’t get Wick-ized.

Unfortunately the plot was really hard to follow. Too many double agents, similar names, and moving pieces to keep track of well. Theron’s character isn’t the most well developed spy character, she’s not as endearing as Bourne or Hunt, but she’s much better than Wick and many of Bond’s outings for my money. Ultimately the soundtrack worked for me 3/4 of the time and when it did it worked well. The action was incredible. Just chefs kiss brutality and creativity.…

The action is filmed great and some of it is pretty cool. However when its a 115 pound female constantly flipping guys 3 times her size, pushing them away, or fighting off groups at once where she gets hit and just makes an “ugh” noise but when the large guys get hit they cant recover, its just absurd and stupid.

Style over substance in the best of ways. Even when the plot of Atomic Blonde starts to unravel in the second half, its action, cinematography, costuming and editing make every frame worth watching. Oddly enough, I remembered the infamous oner being more impressive than I thought it was on rewatch – and found myself loving all the other fight and chase scenes more. Great, understated work from the kickass Charlize Theron and mysterious Sofia Boutella (what’s she been up to lately?) Unsung hero: the ceiling lighting of the West Berlin hotel room.

The best parts of this movie are so striking (music, production design, action choreography and cinematography) that I forgot how much the rest is pretty bland (plot, pacing, spy intrigue). Very glad I got to revisit this one in a theater for SIFF’s Cold War Summer.

If you’re not tired of pervy shots of women in action movies, this is the one for you ! The action scenes are good, it’s a shame East Berlin was turnt into this District 12 dystopian world. The entire movie is so full of cliche and Dark Sasuke Characters, that most of it is painfully predictable. David Leitch would be great directing for marvel or dc, but turning historical events into his little bralettte mini-skirt lesbian fantasy isn’t his forte…

Honestly it was much better than I remembered. Much more bullet train than fall guy, but pretty devoid of humor. Make me the Funny action movies stunt guy! Very great stunt set pieces. Visually stunning and very stylized. James McAvoy was a little too over the top but he was good. Charlize was good as well however. The ending wasn’t as bad as I Remembered it, but still just too much shit. Quadruple agent bs. I know it’s based on a book and maybe it’s better there but kinda takes it down a notch.

Plot was a little too convoluted at times but still a very enjoyable movie. Action scenes and stunts are top tier (I mean it’s David leitch so no surprise there), a very good looking film, lighting/cinematography wise and it’s lowkey worth it just for the soundtrack. Might honestly be my favourite soundtrack to any movie ever. At the very least top 5. Just had too many unnecessary twists and turns.

Hält eigentlich genau was er verspricht: Durchgestylte Action bis zur letzten Minute. Der (etwas klischeehafte) schmuddelige Berlin look aus tristen Farben, Neon Licht und viel Leder ist konsequent durchgezogen und bietet am laufenden Band Möglichkeiten, Charlize Theron beeindruckend in Szene zu setzen. Die Action sitzt und einige Sequenzen sind wirklich bemerkenswert (Stichwort Treppenhaus!)
