How much you wanna bet Mel Gibson wouldn’t be smiling like that if he knew Helen Hunt was Jewish?

At one point, very-soon after Mel Gibson wakes up with his new ability to read the minds of women, he happens upon a poodle (a dog!) and manages to read its mind. It doesn’t happen again in the film, it’s only referenced once afterwards but it happened. What sane person doesn’t think it’d be interesting to figure out what dogs are thinking? Seriously. What the fuck? Doesn’t make sense. Instead Mel Gibson goes around using this new found ability to creep up on women, become their friends and have them be completely enamored by him. He also uses it to blow Marisa Tomei’s world. But the dog. No interest in that. No interest in studying them, and although I do…

Filmin son halkası kalan kısma göre fazla yavaş bi tempoda ilerliyor ve bence buda filmi biraz fazla kopuklaştırmış, yinede süperdi.

I’ve actually seen this a few times. It’s pretty fun! Gets randomly serious in the third act and Mel’s character is just a bit *too* obnoxious at the start but other than that, yeah, good.

A charming movie that was kinda therapeutic to me ??

“If you know what women want, you can rule!” Reading the Title of this movie reminded me of that one book called ‘Everything men know about women’, which is blank inside. But I was pleasantly surprised by this film as it not only showed the romantic advantages of reading women’s minds, but also showed the father-daughter side of things, which really struck home. I really, really wish Lola had a bit more of a chance..she was a cutie (ㅅ´ ˘ `).

I forgot how much I despise romcoms. Mel Gibson has to put him self in movies that build on his ego to make him seem likeable. 1 star just for Helen hunt.

Casting Mad Mel aside, this movie gives strong creedance to women’s voices, too bad it takes putting a sexist cis white male near death in order for that to happen, instead of simply listening to women in the first place.

Early 2000’s romance/comedy films are goated. Think I will find more films like this, fun to watch. This one in particular had a good message to it. You never know when someone is going through something. Really glad he was able to read minds. Really cool movie.

Honestly, I just liked it for the inclusion of Frank Sinatra.

Yeah it’s a cheesy romcom. But I really really enjoyed it. It wasn’t one of those stupid gimmicks which I hate, this one was unique and interesting. Writing was good, acting was good, can’t complain.

What women want is for this movie to be over. Holy shit this did not need to be 2 hours. The scene where Mel Gibson is freaking out at Central Park because he’s hearing all the women’s thoughts did have me laughing pretty hard.

“Thanks for the yarmulke” – Mel Gibson soundtrack slapsss I’M A BITCH I’M A LOVER I’M A CHILD I’M A MOTHER The Apple logo used to be upside down when u opened the laptop??? I wanted to hate it… mostly bc it’s called ‘what women want’ and then stars 50yo Mel Gibson… but unfortunately I was pretty entertained. Obviously the ending would’ve been better if it just ended with her firing him but I know that would be a bit much to expect from the 90’s. Also, LOGAN LERMAN AS BABY MEL GIBSON IS SO FUNNY LOL

Funny, Mel Gibson playing the lighter version of Professor X, movie was like a soap opera episode just they decided to make it a movie 🥱 Not very emotionally engaging at all, and truly this was one of the worst performance of Mel Gibson. Totally skippable folks!!

this movie is just stereotypes upon stereotypes packaged into a half-baked, quite frankly, boring early 2000’s romcom. The male main character tries to “feel what it’s like to be a woman” through a box of female beauty products, and to reduce the experience of being a woman to simply what we look like is just so baffling to me. on a completely different note, the only woman of colour depicted in this movie is shown as vulgar and crass, even…

I underestimated this soo much dudes. Mel Gibson with a film carrying performance (despite how ridiculously deep his gravely voice was). The leading man navigating every single scene to knit together a piece into my newly coined ‘90s Realism w/ Soft Magic’ sub-category. These glorious films from the 90s set in an entirely realistic world yet there’s a sprinkling of pixie dust to add a bit of magic into proceedings that enable our protagonist (and us viewers) to experience something…

In my 2022 review of this—my first time rewatching it—I said: “A concept that puts into question a lot of the basic facets of human reality. Unfortunately concepts are out of work in this movie, and all you get is the dumbest story you can imagine.” As much as I appreciate the idea of a concept being out of work (to laugh at my own joke), I found I enjoyed this more upon this rewatch. Some films are difficult, like What Women Want starring Mel Gibson, and you must watch them three times to appreciate their value.

Not addressed, Nancy Meyers is a genre in herself. We all know it is a feel-good movie. The kind of movie that talks about the things that have been ignored far too long or never got the attention they deserved. Also, one of the first in the business to stand as a source for “men written by women” This movie is all about feminism, and not the kind that wants to make men feel small about themselves. Not portraying women…
-
I
-
A
Doing a joke about how Mel Gibson is playing himself in this (a complete douchebag) would be far too predictable. It kind of feels like the least Nancy Meyers of all her films given its small fantasy elements made even more evident by the fact this is her only film so far that she didn’t write the script for. I mean, it’s just fine for what it is, but at least it is still technically a better alternative to Ladies First so there’s that.

Nancy Meyers has an incredible ability to give horrible men a redemption arc. She makes us believe that men can change to be better partners. That’s how you know she writes fiction.

This is one of my favorite movies ever. A protagonist with a great redemption arc, no awkward culmination, it had awesome mini plot-lines, especially the one with Erin, it makes me cry every time. Overall a masterpiece in my eyes.

The concept is very interesting where a sexist sleazeball suddenly is able to read women’s minds and discovers he isn’t all that. The problem with this film is they didn’t push the drama enough, nor the comedy. The stakes are never high enough to really get invested in the characters and Mel Gibson’s character never really gets his comeuppance, then the fact he can read minds but this isn’t pushed further than dick and sex jokes. It feels like it…

I’ll be more convincing than Mel Gibson when he apologized to the Jews. [cut to Mel Gibson giving a speech] Mel Gibson: I’m really, really sorry about your big noses. I’m really sorry about how greedy you are. But most of all I’m really sorry about you dirty, underhanded, backstabbing ways. Your number one dirty Jew fan, Mel Gibson.

The Movie: a pretty straight concept. Khow about women in a classic way , Romance- love story , bonding with other women’s daughter friends and that was all. Could be fun for you if you feel interested in Main plot. ⭐⭐⭐ The Experience: so just saw reel of whan man want and then downloaded this what women want s now I am not gonna try the other one there are basically same but different. Watched it before sleeping fully tired so it was good just watch it and and all but got boarded at many moments so ok ok ⭐⭐

clearly I don’t understand the person mel gibson is based on these reviews. Besides the mere inconvenience of how apparently misogynistic he is the film, I have to admit, was good and funny, simultaneously. I felt it was rushed because there wasn’t really a closing factor. I liked Erin’s character and her story but the rest, apart from shitting and men, I didn’t like that the thought were solely focused on him and other men. The idea and the concept was cool, nevertheless.
