Dre produced the beats. Cube wrote the lyrics. Eazy provided the voice. Together, along with Yella and Ren, NWA was born from the reality of day to day life in the city of Compton. Sure, they all had big dreams, but did they ever think they would take the world by storm? Straight Outta Compton, is the tale of the rise and fall of the most notorious rap group in the history of notorious rap groups. Now, who wants a little bit of street knowledge? The main theme of Straight Outta Compton is the abuse of power. First, from the po-lice. Hmm, sound familiar? If you think it’s bad today, think what it must’ve been like growing up on the…

Theatrical Cut – 83/100 Director’s Cut – 87/100 Still in awe of the fact that this even exists: A 2 HOUR 47 MINUTE Hip-Hop Epic overflowing with enthusiasm and empathy for the time-period and their subjects, packed with committed performances by a group of talented young actors, and a glorious layer of style that fits right into the sunny exuberance of the topic. This could’ve easily been a biopic equivalent to Notorious, but there’s true growth and passion to go alongside the immense detail, expanding an already massive tapestry into a culmination of life experience and rich verbiage. Shit is dope.

83/100 Straight Outta Compton, in spite of all its flourishing dizziness and intoxicating radiance, is an electrifying study of a society in constant motion. As another entry in the ever-growing (and increasingly tiring) biopic subgenre, F. Gary Gray takes mundane conventions and obliterates any sense of snore-inducing commonalities and weak delivery. Just like the highly-influential (and fucking amazing) group who crafted the titular album, Gray’s film is an explosion of dedicated performances, scrumptious visual/aural flair, and an understated mirage of shifting ideals. But above all, Straight Outta Compton arrives in the late sunset of summer to shake up the world and give the audience something to think about. It’s a sunny, honest, brutal, and sublime epic of multicolored vigor. At…

My favorite scene in this very entertaining musical biopic is when Ice Cube is sitting at a laptop writing the screenplay for ‘Friday’ and says ‘damn that’s funny’ to himself.

Very good, I wish it touched more on how exactly they got into the business cus one second they were recording and the next they already released a record. I think the actors were all spectacular, and the sound was so crisp, which it should be considering the movie.

I felt like everyone in this movie played their roles so well, portraying the generation that changed the rap game forever. To this day, their influence is still felt. Great storytelling, and the cast did an amazing job bringing these characters to life.

Straight outta Compton is probably one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. It’s about many famous rappers and their life before and through fame. This movie has brutal truths about life of some people which was very heartbreaking. This movie opened up my eyes to a lot of music

Fuck Jerry Heller!

“You got your way of dealing with it and I got mine.” If “Compton” is undeniably of the moment, it’s also timeless in its depiction of how artists and writers transform the world around them into angry, profane, vibrant and singular personal expression. Credit goes to smart casting of unknowns in the leads, who click uniformly.

Everybody knows I hate music bioptics but this was done well. Casting was brilliant, music was great (as expected), and the story they told wasn’t too fantasised. In most case groups fail cause of money and greed and in the case of NWA that’s what happened. Great group made rap mainstream.

Just saw the directors cut (by accident) and it was so long. No surprise there because it’s got a lot to juggle between business conflict, racism and police brutality that the music directly fought against, and personal lives, while sticking to many other historical details. I think the writing itself was a bit rough to keep me fully entertained for over two hours. But I’m so lively educated now about the history behind how the relationships worked between members, how who met who, etc. The ending was sad. Dre saying “Aftermath” got me chills 😭

Yo, Dre, I got something to say Fuck the police, Jerry Heller, and AIDS. Easily one of the greatest biopic OAT. This captures the rise and fall of N.W.A., and the casting is so perfect, especially Ice Cube’s son, who looks so much like him. “No Vaseline” remains as one of the greatest diss track. O’shea Jackson Sr., a.k.a. Ice Cube, is so legendary that my brother is named after him.

85/100 – A staggering achievement when it comes to music biopics, even if it ends up feeling a bit too sanitized. I’ve read some articles that talk about how this film suffers from some inaccuracies, primarily due to Ice Cube and Dr. Dre’s direct involvement with the film. We won’t get 100% accurate depictions and stories about them, because they’re controlling the narrative. I’m not saying that what we’re seeing is completely inaccurate, just hard to trust at face value.…

Straight Outta Compton (2015) Review: OMG I knew this movie was the director cooking it this one as especially with the performance and scripts coming by. This watching was between 8/16/2026 and 8/17/2026 (today) indeed. So the film is about the group of rappers who are being able to be called as NWA, they signifies the most album they have ever heard to begin recoding up the session for their own rapping songs, including the original ones, while their lives…

GOD BLESS MEMORY OF EAZY-E

The first hour plus of this is so good. However, after the group return from their first tour it loses all its narrative momentum and devolves into a series of cameos of every 90s rapper who ever had a passing encounter with the members of N.W.A. Like, why am I watching a scene of Ice Cube’s son, playing Ice Cube, writing the script for Friday and talking to himself about how the line “You got knocked the fuck out!” is…

- Synopsis
- In 1987, five young men, using brutally honest rhymes and hardcore beats, put their frustration and anger about life in the most dangerous place in America into the most powerful weapon they had: their music. Taking us back to where it all began, Straight Outta Compton tells the true story of how these cultural rebels—armed only with their lyrics, swagger, bravado and raw talent—stood up to the authorities that meant to keep them down and formed the world’s most dangerous group, N.W.A. And as they spoke the truth that no one had before and exposed life in the hood, their voice ignited a social revolution that is still reverberating today.
