Statham single-handedly keeping the spirit of HK martial arts movies alive in ’00s Hollywood as there is more love and creativity and (most importantly) fun put into this than any other American action flick of this time. Bring back: 1. car chases punctuated with slap bass while generic bad guys in ski masks make funny faces, 2. gun-fu slapstick shenanigans where spinning jump-kicks beat men with AK-47s while sex-tape music plays, and 3. ridiculously-hot leads who can’t stand each other faking romance to blend in until suddenly they can’t stand to be apart. Never once takes itself seriously and as such remains in the perfect realm of goofy artifice where any and every trope-y hijinx is played. They don’t make ’em like they used to; they should.

Jason Stathom plays a tailor made role for him, as the cool n stylish gateway driver with sleek action skills and strict principles. It has a pretty much generic storyline and an uneven narrative, still is very much serviceable full blown action junkie movie. Good dumb fun.

The scene where he cuts a li’l hole through the tape on her mouth so he can feed her juice is too damn funny🧃. He’s such a romantic.😍 Stath’s character in this might be a bit of a sociopath but Shu Qi is still so lucky. The film’s central premise and the way in which it are carried out are not only intriguing but also effectively executed. Again, Statham does a fantastic job of embodying the required attitude and mentality for the role to succeed. All of the romantic entanglements feel contrived, but I suppose they are necessary for the story to progress. The car chases and other action moments are entertaining. All in all, far from fantastic but the film manages to entertain largely due to the magnetism of Statham as the titular “Transporter”. a lot of this ranges from questionable to atrocious, including the romance, score, digital cinematography, and acting, but watching Jason Statham slip n slide while fighting goons in crude oil is cinematic bliss. comparable to the Fast franchise in content and style, even using the clutch pedal shot in a chase scene, which i don’t recall seeing in any other movies.

Seeing the origin point of what is almost its own genre at this point, Jason Statham action films, is awesome. The blue print for what these would become is all here, just dialed down. The action is good but not great. The acting is good but not great. Same with the story. The only real standout in this movie is the score. And it’s not standing out for positive reasons. Ha, this is way cornier than I remembered. That’s not a negative comment at all, just an observation. Without The Transporter, Statham’s career might have looked very different. He’d been in some films before like Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and The One. But this was the first action-packed Jason Statham headlining vehicle – pun very much intended.

Couldn’t stop thinking about this after watching Shelter so had to revisit. Just as perfect and early 00s as I remember, and honestly the entire bus station part of the movie is near flawless. Fight choreo is so tight and entertaining, I wish the movie ended there and we skipped the last act but beggars can’t be choosers. Still holds up, still rips. Why can’t we get something that marries Statham’s street level con man fast talking charisma with the fight heavy action star? Gimme both, I want both.

I feel like this movie is focused on the pacing and action rather than the storytelling. It’s very fast-paced and everything goes on really quick it’s a fight after fight – and that’s what makes this film so great. I don’t think it deserves 5 stars but it’s really good. Un film d’action qui ne cherche clairement pas à réinventer le genre mais qui reste assez efficace dans ce qu’il entreprend. Le scénario est très prévisible et accumule les clichés, notamment dans la relation entre Frank et sa protégée. Heureusement, les scènes d’action sont nombreuses, nerveuses et plutôt bien mises en scène, avec notamment une course-poursuite d’ouverture particulièrement réussie. Jason Statham apporte également le charisme et la présence physique nécessaires au personnage. Ce n’est donc pas un grand film d’action mais le contrat est globalement rempli et l’ensemble reste un divertissement agréable.

And the synopsis is worked. หนังแอ็กชันฝรั่งเศส-อเมริกันที่เกิดจากการจับมือกันของสองชื่อสำคัญอย่างลุค เบซง กับผู้กำกับชาวฮ่องกงอย่างคอรี่ หยวน โดยเบซงรับหน้าที่เขียนบทและอำนวยการสร้าง ขณะที่หยวนรับหน้าที่กำกับและออกแบบฉากแอ็กชัน หนังมีเจสัน สเตแธมมารับบทแฟรงค์ มาร์ติน อดีตทหารรับจ้างที่ผันตัวมาเป็นคนส่งของลับที่มีกฎเหล็ก 3 ข้อ คือห้ามเปลี่ยนข้อตกลง ห้ามถามชื่อ และห้ามเปิดดูของที่กำลังขน ฟังดูเหมือนอาชีพง่ายๆ แค่ขับรถจากจุด A ไปจุด B แต่แน่นอนว่าถ้าหนังเรื่องนี้ทำตามกฎจริงๆ เราคงไม่ได้มีอะไรให้ดู จุดที่น่าสนใจมากคือ The Transporter เป็นหนึ่งในหนังที่ช่วยสร้างภาพจำใหม่ให้กับเจสัน สเตแธมในฐานะพระเอกแอ็กชันระดับนานาชาติ ก่อนหน้านั้นเขาเริ่มเป็นที่รู้จักจากหนังของกาย ริตชีอย่าง Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels และ Snatch แต่แฟรงค์ มาร์ตินคือบทที่เปิดประตูให้เขาก้าวขึ้นมาเป็นแอ็กชันสตาร์เต็มตัว ส่วนคอรี่ หยวนก็เป็นชื่อที่สำคัญมากในวงการหนังฮ่องกง ทั้งในฐานะนักแสดงและผู้กำกับคิวบู๊ เขานำจังหวะการต่อสู้แบบฮ่องกงที่เน้นความเร็ว ความแม่น และการใช้สิ่งของรอบตัว มาผสมกับแอ็กชันแบบหนังยุโรปจนกลายเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของเรื่อง ขณะที่ลุค เบซงก็ใส่กลิ่นอายแบบหนังแอ็กชันฝรั่งเศสลงไปเต็มที่ ทั้งความเท่ ความเร็ว และตัวละครที่ดูเหมือนหลุดออกมาจากโลกอาชญากรรมสุดเนี้ยบ เรื่องราวของแฟรงค์เริ่มขึ้นเมื่อเขารับงานขนส่งของให้กลุ่มอาชญากร โดยใช้ BMW 735i สีดำคู่ใจและปฏิบัติตามกฎอย่างเคร่งครัด แต่ระหว่างทางเขากลับพบว่าพัสดุที่ตัวเองกำลังขนไม่ใช่ของธรรมดา เพราะมันคือไล กวน หญิงสาวชาวจีนที่ถูกลักลอบขนเพื่อใช้ในขบวนการค้ามนุษย์ เธอรับบทโดยซู ฉี นักแสดงชาวไต้หวันที่ทำให้ตัวละครไล กวนไม่ได้เป็นแค่ “สาวสวยที่พระเอกต้องช่วย” แต่เป็นคนที่มีแรงขับและความสำคัญต่อเรื่องของตัวเอง เมื่อแฟรงค์ตัดสินใจละเมิดกฎข้อที่สำคัญที่สุด นั่นคือการเปิดดูของที่เขารับมา ทุกอย่างจึงพังครืนลงทันที และเขาก็ถูกลากเข้าสู่สงครามระหว่างกลุ่มอาชญากร เจ้าหน้าที่รัฐ และผู้คนที่อยู่เบื้องหลังการค้ามนุษย์ สิ่งที่ทำให้ The Transporter ยังดูสนุกจนถึงทุกวันนี้คือมันเข้าใจอย่างชัดเจนว่าหนังแอ็กชันไม่จำเป็นต้องมีพล็อตซับซ้อนระดับจักรวาล ขอแค่สร้าง “กติกา” ที่ชัดแล้วเอาตัวละครไปโยนใส่สถานการณ์ที่บีบให้เขาต้องทำลายกติกานั้น หนังจึงทำให้แฟรงค์มีเสน่ห์ตั้งแต่แรก…

This was just bad for me. I expected a fun action film but I found the story boring and the characters didn’t really interest me. Jason Statham is probably the best part of it. He has the right presence for Frank Martin and he’s clearly comfortable with the physical side of the role but even he couldn’t make me care about the story. - Synopsis
