This was a pretty meh movie wasn’t that impressed with it. The concept was kinda interesting at the beginning but as the movie went on it became pretty boring and nothing really happened that was interesting. The acting wasn’t bad and the cinematography was ok. Overall it’s not that good but if you want to see it it’s on plex.

“The biggest and most ambitious Christian film ever made.” My favorite part was when the flight attendant quit her job to become a UN emissary to the antichrist. Dropping Good Friday from your friends at 70mm.

“Maybe the common factor isn’t in those who were taken. Maybe it’s in those who were left behind.” While working in Israel, journalist Buck Williams (Kirk Cameron) becomes witness to an all-out attack by Israel’s enemies – before every plane abruptly explodes during a sudden eclipse. Soon after, pilot Rayford Steele (Brad Johnson) flies a 747 from New York City to London, when many of the passengers on board suddenly vanish – and it soon turns out, this happened everywhere on Earth … Left Behind (also known as Left Behind: The Movie) is an apocalyptic thriller film directed by Vic Sarin, based on the novel of the same name by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. It’s the 1st installment…

Short version: This movie isn’t good at anything. Long version: Left Behind was always fundamentally going to be something I hated (lol see what I did there lol), but I still managed to be surprised by the breadth of its incompetence. End times theology being an especially ugly, pernicious little facet in the lives of some religious types, I’d never want to encourage its proliferation; but there’s a weird part of me that would watch this story if it were told more like a straight up fantasy, by someone with, you know, actual creative vision, and who preferably was not an evangelical Christian with an agenda to push. Left Behind could contain compelling moments of mystery, action, and pathos. It…

Very funny that this was being promoted as “the biggest and most ambitious Christian film ever made” and then like 4 years later passion of the Christ came out

kinda crazy how the guy who wrote the book this is based on is also the founder of an ultraconservative secret society that was funded by the Moonies, ran money and arms for the Contras, and had deep ties to South African apartheid and various alphabet agencies, not to mention Le Cercle and various tradcath cults like Opus Dei and TFP, and has fucking Oliver North as a board member. that doesn’t say anything about why rapture fundamentalism has been so widely hawked over the past few decades now does it lol

I’m not offended, but this is an offensive oversimplification. The only merit this has is being very accurate to the Bible under the hypothesis that the Rapture happened in present day (2000). All references are correctly put, when shown, including modern history happenings. I must make an honorable mention for the pastor that is left behind despite the teachings he preached. From there: ✖ It is horribly acted ✖ It has flat characters that undergo unbelievable transformations for the sake of the plot moving forward ✖ Faith is treated in the most superficial way imaginable ✖ The family topic is treated very lightly ✖ The faith carried on by those that were taken away is never explored, while the post-Rapture…

As Christian propaganda, I guess it serves its purpose. As film art, it’s pretty “meh”. I’ve always wondered why Christian films can’t be of the same quality as mainstream films.

5 truths and a lie: this movie is about the rapture. this movie is very gay. this movie has an original soundtrack with the best original credits song since holes. the villain of this movie is a russian twink who leads the UN. this movie is an amalgamation of strange writing decisions and even stranger acting decisions. this movie has a plot that makes sense.

And then I saw Kirk’s face! (dah duhn-duhn duhn-duhn duhh) Now I’m a believer! Some weapons-grade schlock right here. More like Ernest Meets Dracula. But you gotta see the sprawling size of some of these chaotic post-rapture crowds. What a production. Helluva swing at a 2000 era soundtrack too. Not since INDEPENDENCE DAY has a massive aerial assault been so ruthlessly thwarted by superior technology. A heavy dose of Cameron straight-arrow good-guy acting really puts a hard cap on all…

HE LOOKS LIKE CHARLIE KIRK Woke up, biked 20 miles, got to bed around 5:30, woke up at nine, scrolled on my phone for five hours instead of continuing to write the screenplay I’ve been working on. parents made me read the books growing up, and i was deathly afraid of the rapture for a long time. after finding some peace and realizing I don’t believe in the idea of a rapture anymore, my mom asked me to watch this movie to save my soul. i think this movie took my soul instead because it somehow makes the first few books in the series somewhat enjoyable. These movies help popularize a belief that just isn’t biblical and…

This movie had no idea the real Armageddon would be brought on by AI and technocrats. Kirk Cameron seems like a piece of shit even when he’s playing a good guy. Worth it for when Trevett from Walker Texas Ranger screams “oh god” and then on his knees begs of god to “use me” while a man who looks as if he’s done porn, while playing a pilot comforts him with an “he already has” I’m sure the grand creator…

Okay the Nicholas Cage version of this movie is way different from this, more source material accurate, version. Like yeah the evangelical shit is like really transparent (kinda rude) and funny. The UN is supposed to be like this big evil globalist org… lots of dog whistles in this one lolololol. Objectively a better movie, it actually had plot and characters. Where the Nick Cage version (2014) was a rapture inspired disaster movie, this version (2000) was a real “we’re…

It was super slow at the beginning. If I was watching this by myself, I would have put it off after 10 minutes. I was bored so to say. But! Something happened and I got hooked. It was interesting and very weird idea to see what was happening. A bit scary as well. The acting was okay. A bit too much of those mirror shots but hey, it’s okay

I haven’t revisited these since I was a kid, but I remember them being surprisingly effective adaptations of the books, even if the preachiness could be a bit heavy-handed (although the books were, as well). The filmmaking is definitely rough around the edges and very early-2000s direct-to-video in spots, but I don’t think they’re the total incompetence-fests that internet discourse sometimes paints them as either. A lot of the negative reputation feels tied to backlash toward evangelical media as a…

O clima conspiracionista me lembrou de Arquivo X, e é compreensível,…

They hurt my feelings so bad in this film. The gave us this awful, selfish man with BPD and autism in a lavender marriage and then they had him convert to Christianity in 2.5 seconds 💔 Best part of film: That fuckass BANGER techno track Worst part of film: Every single other thing

I remember reading these books as a kid and being somewhat entertained, so I figured I would give the movie a shot. I admittedly didn’t have very high expectations knowing that it was a lower budget film, but man this was just downright awful. The script is painful, the visual effects are some of the more laughable I’ve ever seen from a movie that’s actually attempting to be taken seriously. I wanted to like this movie, especially considering the fondness I had for the books growing up, but this movie just isn’t good.

Vapid, harmful to viewers. Kirk Cameron comes off so poisonous. There’s some pretty funny stuff once the rapture happens. Tons of crazy bullshit, a few big laughs. It does sound and look kind of like The Room. I’m doubtful I could stomach another one of these but I might try.

I don’t know how we’re supposed to trust Kirk Cameron, Vic Sarin, Tim LaHaye, Jerry B. tiene un presupuesto bajo y algunas actuaciones bastante rigidas, al igual que los diálogos.

I read the first eight books in the Left Behind series while a preteen and teen. Since the “theology” (I use this term extremely lightly) differed from the interpretation of the end times taught by the United Pentecostal Church International, I read it as fantasy mixed with disaster. The film is a scattershot adaptation, grabbing scenes from the first books that don’t quite work together unless you are into the source material. Oh, and it’s very, very bad.

These films are unironically a source of quite a bit of my trauma (to an extent obviously). I’ll be honest, I’m going to mention real (personal) experiences more than the actual film itself, but they are most certainly in relation to Left Behind completely.

It’s an interesting story and feels more relevant today than it did then, however this film has some major issues. The acting ranges from okay to pretty bad, the dialogue is pretty awkward and stiff, the plot could be pretty hard to follow at times, the cinematography is decent but it is really nothing special. I remember really liking this movie as a teen. The thriller/conspiracy/plot/drama elements I still find interesting. Like as a premise divorced from real world theology and politics it has interesting story potential. So I think it’s an engaging watch. I don’t know, that could be just me. For personal reasons, I don’t like plucky news reporters. For obvious reasons, Kirk Cameron is nauseating. Working my way back around to this, I’m surprised how watchable it was compared to some of the other shit from my childhood. Was this evangelical propaganda that my closest friend was subjected to? Yes. As a film did I enjoy it? Unfortunately yes. What I’ve learnt from watching Christian films growing up and in present time is that the people making these films, the organizations and churches that push them lose the meaning behind what Jesus actually stood for and are self proclaimed “righteous” people, where their presentation of god is closer to Satan. Also why is it in these films Christians just don’t realize that Jesus is a prophet in Islam??? Also what’s with the evangelical Israeli propaganda?!

As with the Battlefield: Earth movie, it’s kind of staggering to see some of the leading devotees of a major faith movement tee themselves up to bring their gospel to the big screen and then absolutely whiff it? Kirk Cameron has done more for the cause of atheism than Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens combined.
