I’m so much more forgiving of a movie’s visual flatness and bland photography when it features a Yautja wielding a laser bow and laser sword that is consistently used to slice off the appendages of the most wild looking creatures. Glad to see that toxic family relationships exist for everyone, including Yautjas and synthetics. Elle Fanning’s line deliveries are everything to me.

This movie lowkey is the spiritual third AVP movie despite having no xenomorphs. The reason being is, hear me out, weyland corp being the main enemies of the film. I swear this is as much a mainline alien film as Prometheus. Due to all of this, this movie is actually pretty fun and has a bit of heart even. Who woulda thought a predator movie could contain a single emotion???!!!! Not me that’s for sure.

Perfectly competent but forgettable. A paint by numbers coming of age tale and found family that has been shoe horned into the predator universe. Baby predator humanised way too much for my liking. Elle fanning was great. Thought the killer planet was as cool, but nothing new at all. “Hey guys, you know that iconic villain you all love? Turns out they’re just look you! Isn’t that cool?” No, not really. If this story works entirely on its own without the predator, that should tell you this isn’t built for this. Anywho. It has really cool worldbuilding, visuals, action and music, and it was high time the Predator became the actual protagonist. Sadly, they had to go and give him a sidekick in human form and a soul-searching arc while neglecting his arc as a fighter, defusing tension with smarty-pants humour and ending with an anemic, anticlimactic finale. I can’t help thinking that an exciting, quest-based action movie with solid character moments was in there somewhere, but we got the watered-down version.

The movie strays from the traditional predator type movie and god was it good. Following someone who doesn’t speak english for the whole movie you’d think there’s a dull moment but it’s straight narrative and carnage. It’s like watching a John Wick revenge movie with actual plot points that have congruent purpose.

Why do we now have a whole language when we’ve seen them interact before without speaking it, I don’t really like the voice either. Très, très divertissant. Un film plein d’aura, à l’instar de Cristiano Ronaldo à l’Inter de Milan. Excellente perf d’Elle Fanning qui nous offre un jeu aussi inattendu que bien exécuté. Actrice plus que tout-terrain. Bonne perf également du Predator qui a mieux joué que l’ensemble des acteurs de Stranger Things en 5 saisons. Je suis même allé voir le making of et je suis surpris de voir que tout n’a pas été tourné sur fond vert. Il y a beaucoup de scènes en outdoor où ils se sont fait chier à recréer les monstres et les décors en vrai, et ça, c’est cool.

Entertaining, action packed and a good Predator as our lead charector kicking ass and taking names with a little help with his new friends which is a female robot and baby creature. Betrayal and revenge is a central theme to this storyline and it’s filled to the brim with special effects and unique imagery. Different from the previous films but still a good addition to the series.

Not my favorite Predator, but by no means a bad one. Felt more like an empty narrative about wish fulfillment and found family than anything with substance. Could have been much more. What it is instead is great entertainment. Like The Neverending Story meets Peter Jackson’s version of Skull Island, with some of those Narnia chronicles mixed in.

“What if this time the Predator is the one on the back foot?” As with the Alien franchise, so much is demystified about the creature as to render it sterile. Changing the Predator from barely visible but very real threat to main character where he ultimately learns to choose friendship, this would have made a good Worf episode of TNG as they’ve essentially turned the Predator into a Klingon.

Not sure how this fits into the Alien / Predator timeline, but it doesn’t exactly matter — I was more interested in the way the movie delved into Predator culture and the roles of “culling weakness” and empathy within the Yautja. Some more time with characterization would have really helped, since there were a lot of strands that felt *mostly* strong but a little undercooked
