Jumanji could possibly be read as a post-modern reinvention of the Peter Pan story. All the pieces are there. Jumanji is a children’s version of a horror movie in every sense of word, and even more surprising than that: it’s actually got a strong emotional core, anchored by Robin Williams’ terrific performance. I loved this movie as a kid, because unlike lots of other children’s entertainment, it actually made me FEEL things like fear and sadness.

Jumanji me parece una película con una idea increíble. El concepto de un juego que hace realidad todo lo que ocurre dentro de él sigue pareciéndome muy original. Robin Williams es uno de los puntos más importantes de la película y creo que su personaje aporta también una parte emocional bastante fuerte. Me gusta que la película tenga aventura, fantasía y algunos momentos que incluso pueden resultar bastante inquietantes. Para mí, sigue siendo una película con muchísimo encanto.

I still think that the 90s and the 80s was quite possibly the peak of whimsical children’s media. This movie, every time I watch it, makes me feel like magic is real. There are few modern “all-ages” films that have this level of production quality and universal appeal. Also I miss Robin Williams :((((

i think van pelt the scary hunter in this and also the goosebumps book the beast from the east are the reasons for the specific flavour of chased by the killer stress dreams i’ve had most of my life. it’s always like fuckk i’m playing the game that kills you 😭😔

i’m a tenant with a family right now, which means sometimes i get to join them for dinner and movie nights. let me tell you, i love kids. i’m endlessly delighted by them. they have this nine year old boy named samuel, and he cracks me up. this was an interaction: the two adults almost kiss samuel CLAMPS his eyes shut kate (the mom): oh, that was almost the scariest part yet! 😝 samuel, hands still covering his eyes: you’re right!! 😭

Una aventura fantástica muy entretenida y con muchísimo encanto noventero. Robin Williams está genial como Alan y la idea del juego de mesa que convierte sus peligros en realidad sigue siendo súper divertida. Los efectos tienen ese encanto de los 90 y la película mezcla muy bien humor, aventura y momentos de tensión. Divertida, nostálgica y muy entretenida.

When I saw this movie as a kid I got so scared that I never watched it again. Therefore I remembered absolutely not a damn thing from this movie. Haha. It’s a shame that it scared me because it is actually the *perfect* children’s action movie. What can I even say that hasn’t already been said? Robin Williams is perfection. Bonnie Hunt compliments him so well. Baby Kristen Dunst is impossible to take your eyes off of, she’s immediately electric. And those puppets? Love a good puppet of a lion! The ending ruined me in the best way possible. I loved it endlessly.
