i had SEVERAL strokes throughout this movie. i simply cannot get over amanda seyfried annoucing that she’s “good with words” in a voiceover narration at the very beginning and then later giving julianne moore a play by play of her sexual escapade with liam neeson including “i put my tits in his face” highly recommend this as a netflix party watch

The ending stinks and Chloe, the character, is impenetrable; but I loved it when Chloe (Amanda Seyfried) scanned Julianne Moore’s bedroom while she’s having sex with Moore’s teenage son, trying to find something that reminds her of Moore, her not-so-secret crush, and then she orgasms when she sees sets of Moore’s shoes. That there’s some art.

Chloe was the living epitome of obsession, but in the end she was just a young girl in love, involved in a story she wasn’t supposed to get in, while on the other hand Catherine was just insecure, felt unseen and unappreciated by her own husband and son. Maybe in another universe they would have found their perfect ending together, but not in this😔

It’s like the old saying goes; “Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw Amanda Seyfrieds.” In all honestly though, I’d be suing the hell out of who installed that window pane. Really decent movie with the potential to have been great but just didn’t stick the landing for me. By the time it finds it’s stride with the plot there just isn’t much runway left.

Anytime I watch a film where the main character is a gynecologist I just know it’s going to be crazy. Honestly, I watched for Liam Neeson who is in very little of this. I called from the start what was going to happen. When Amanda Seyfried was like standing in the rain I was waiting for her to grab her boob and tell us that there’s a 30% chance it’s already raining.

Chloe just out here trying to catch all the Stewart family like Pokémon. Julianne, Amanda, and Liam all brought their game on for this semi-erotic drama film. I think they really made the film work and elevated the screenplay as it definitely felt silly at times. The emotional character complexions and depths to Catherine and Chloe were the highlight of the film and when things got steamy…they got steamy alright.

Boy do I love a Toronto-familiar director who does not betray the geography of the city. At certain points, it felt like the street signs were featured more prominently than the actors! Love it! And Julianne Moore is just spectacular as always. But she should have picked up on the “picnic” during a Toronto winter. Watched this in honor of my sister-in-law’s birthday, thank goodness I didn’t tell her. “Hey, we watched a movie about a woman named Chloe living in Toronto!” “Whats it about?” “Uhhh a manipulative escort…😬”
