This is the ugliest fucking thing I’ve ever seen. This doesn’t feel like a real movie. It’s hilarious to me that this exists. Obviously this deserves a lower rating but idk man, I was definitely amused. Not the whole time, the movie swings between being funny and being a total snooze fest. But the action scenes? They aren’t good but they are very entertaining. Everything’s just so ridiculous and everything just looks so bad and it’s just hilarious. It’s also confusing as shit and the world is poorly & hastily set up and in general the movie leaves you with a lot of questions. – Why do her hair and clothes change color? – Why does she get her entire outlook…

Part of the December Project: Film #12 Oh Starz. The things you’ll decide to start playing. I really don’t understand my relationship with Ultraviolet. It has some of the worst visuals, terrible action, the worst acting, and a near incomprehensible story. To boot, it’s also dull as fucking shit. And yet, this must be the 8th time I’ve watched it since I wasted money on it back when it first came out. Why do I keep watching this? Am I amused by how bad it is? Am I a masochist? Do I secretly love it without even knowing it? Am I still trying to justify the money I paid for a Thursday matinee? What is it about this movie that causes me to revisit it? What is wrong me? Why is it that Milla Jojovich’s face can’t move? Someone help the poor girl!

Unfinished temp gfx really set the tone off the bat lol she’s a mess but this movie is a RIDE for sure if approached as a daytime soap opera sci fi it really soars some reeeally cool stuff happening at moments and total sleep inducing nonsense at other times it’s hard not to be enamored by the pre AI upscaling plastic look the entire film has on it?

IT IS ON!!! I just had to watch something entertaining after last few films I watched. This is quite simply Milla Jovovich kicking ass like she does in the Resident Evil movies. In that regard this delivers in spades. The script and cg have a so bad its good quality and im so glad I got to watch this on the big screen back in 2006.

I fear the bad reviews on this are mostly men being sexist because I personally loved watching this. It was entertaining, witty, and the lightning was so futuristic and straight out of a pinterest board. Unfortunately, I do wish her character had slightly better writing but the movie was filmed in such a way that it felt like a video game. God forbid a superhuman woman has a movie of straight action.. Men already get that enough. Justice for Violet!

It’s truly terrible. But it could have been merely bad. According to the internet, both Jovavich and Kurt Wimmer have disavowed this film (though she did the commentary for the blu-ray so?) Apparently, Sony locked them both out of the editing room while they cut the movie to a PG-13 and they actually pushed the film out before the effects were even done. If you are looking for a movie with a thoughtful and provoking story this is not it. However it does have a great 2000s futurist charm and I thought the CGI was very funny. Enjoyable watch.

That was a real struggle to get through. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a film as boring as this. The acting was shit, the story was uninteresting, and like 90 per cent of the film was just CGI. That’s 90 minutes of my life I will never get back 🫠 (Is it just me, or does Milla Jovovich look a lot like Liv Tyler in this film?)

Ok first things first i put this on drunk in the hotel room at 1am and full disclosure I did not finish it because it gave me the spins and I had to lie down. There is a reality where they made this rated R and it absolutely rips, but we live in the worst timeline where they pull their punches and there’s not enough “hell yeah” to outweigh the “what the hell.” I’m actually a fan of the crappy CGI and the color grading right out of mirrors edge.

Such a strange movie. This movie is ripoff of the matrix. But, with vampires instead of programs. There’s a scene where they rip off the first matrix and the second matrix in the same scene. The ultraviolet colors are really beautiful. But the plot is so paper thin it’s dragged out. This is such a slow movie.

- Synopsis
