100-word review: The Mechanic serves up classic Jason Statham fare: gritty action, and his signature portrayal of an ultra-competent antihero. The movie delivers on its promise of adrenaline, but of course it falls into the trap of predictability that often characterises Statham’s films. While it’s undeniably fun, the plot follows a familiar formula, leaving little room for surprises. One notable drawback is the frenetic editing. With an excessive number of cuts, the film sacrifices visual coherence, making it challenging to fully appreciate the choreography and impact of the stunts. This editing style detracts from what could have been more immersive and memorable action sequences.

A gritty assassin movie with Jason Stathom doing typical Jason Stathom things. His dynamics with Ben Foster were witty and enjoyable. It offers some stylishly cool action stretches with a solid finale, however the formulaic storyline and predictable narrative hurt the flow. It is good serviceable fun yet easily forgettable too.

The final fifteen minutes or so of the movie are so deep cheese that it partially redeems the rest of it. It felt like if they got Homer Simpson to direct a movie and he’s sitting there watching the explosions and such thinking he nailed it and the executives are like what was that. Otherwise it felt like the pilot episode of an Amazon Original Series. Or I guess a reboot of the movie Arthur except he’s also a hitman.

Güzel ama çok daha güzel filmleri de var… Jason Statham’ın izlediğim tüm filmleri içinde alt sıralarda kalan bir film benim için….. Klasik aksiyon dövüş sahneleri azdı…. 👍

I love that Statham is so fundamentally Statham that no one questions why there’s suddenly an English person mixed up in American assassination shenanigans. I’m not sure this is exactly indistinguishable from his other movies, but things go boom and bang and bad guys go splat, so there’s a satisfying level of shiny action fun to be had. It is a horrifying experience to fall into madness when you could have jumped into a dumpster fire aka Seasonal Trash Fall 2025 42. Watch a movie featuring Jason Statham.

Starring: The Bold, Bald, Gruff Action Man Jason Statham Jason Statham finds another (short-lived?) franchise where his strength, gruffness, and badass attitude come in handy. The story is interesting, and the predicament in which the protagonist finds himself, in which he must protect the son of the friend he has just killed, is where the tension is at its most. In this regard, the film makes use of this, though never to its full extent. Statham, as always, does a great job of delivering and selling on the action, particularly by revealing some humanity in a man who is, in many respects, a killing machine. Ben Foster, as usual, delivers a great performance that serves as the film’s dramatic focal point. The action scenes themselves are decent, but they don’t stand out. All in all, a good action drama with some very good performances and interesting world building. TODAY SCHEDULE The Mechanic Mechanic: Resurrection Hot Fuzz At World’s End

I mean, it’s basically just the same as every other Jason Statham action movie, but this one has Ben Foster in it

Of all the films in the Jason Statham pantheon of vaguely American sounding cockney has a mundane job but is a secret bad ass that has been double crossed, this is certainly one of them.

The most unremarkable and mediocre film I’ve ever seen that isn’t terrible. I will say I’m impressed that Jason Statham has managed to make an absolute fortune by pumping out the same movie at least twice a year. Fair play.

just disciplined tradecraft, surveillance, controlled movement, and statham deleting problems with professional efficiency.

Donald Sutherland rolled away like the Wheelchair Guy in Happy Wheels 😂😂😂 Jason Statham could have been filming Crank 3 instead of this. He needs to get his priorities straight. They mentioned adrenaline and epinephrine which CANNOT be a coincidence. The desire for Crank 3 is undeniable.

You’ve got to hand it to Jason Statham, he is really good at walking away from stuff. Also major kudos for being one of like 20 people still using Ask Jeeves in 2011.

I like a corporate hitman style setup, statham as always plays a great obsessive turbo-prepared stonefaced killer with a conscience i like the mentor story, the concept of the fuckup wannabe actually getting taken under the wing is novel to me “epinephrine…” “which is toxic when combined with…” “adrenaline.” “ketamine counteracts adrenaline”

Get Statham on speed-dial for 2011 reboot of Chartoff & Winkler & writer Carlino’s character, Arthur Bishop, introduced by Bronson in 1972, top-rank hired assassin, working for clandestine outfit, known for his intricate planning, and untraceable kills. Origin story: a contract to hit long-time handler & mentor Harry (Sutherland). His unhinged son Steve (Foster, “Pandorum,”) then becomes Bishop’s protégé partner, against all good judgment. Two new assignments are completed but botched, and company man Dean (Goldwyn) goes after Bishop. It’s only a matter of time before Steve finds out who killed his father. Amazing what 40 years of explosive film tech advancement can achieve.

Jason Statham is peak Jason Statham and Ben Foster is peak Ben Foster which elevates this movie to a slight above average action thriller…. Quote of the movie “Good judgment comes from experience and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.”

donald sutherland’s first line in this is “how’d you get me in this shithole?” which felt kinda meta. the only women in the story are there either to get fucked in ridiculously edited sex scenes or to be threatened with extreme violence in order to extract information. each assassination just barely strings together the boring, cliche overarching plot which, despite the short run time, trudges along at a snail’s pace. ben foster’s character introduces an interesting dynamic that should have…

Truth be told nothing could top the 1972 Charles Bronson classic, so it’s for the better that this 2011 version is more of a reimagining than a remake. As such it gets more leeway to do its own thing. Apparently that thing is making a better “Hitman” adaptation than the actual “Hitman” films 😂 Fun and action-packed, I had a blast with this one.

Great movie. Definetely among Statham’s best. My favorite Jason Statham movie by far. Great action, cast, story and plot twists The story was very interesting, I liked it a lot. Very different from what I expected this to be. The characters were great but no one comes close to Statham himself. He’s the GOAT. The scene where they are holding that one villain’s family captive and he threatens the girl by cutting off her hand was disturbing and I actually was in shock, but luckily it turned out good. Overall, great movie and one of my fav action pieces oat. I rate 8.5/10

Decent flick. Fast paced, entertaining and had some good action for its time, though ultimately pretty forgettable. I did like that they never tried to make Bishop sympathetic or turn him into a good guy. He’s a straight-up morally fucked character, and the film actually lets him be that. (2.75/5)

A remake of a much better (and cooler) Charles Bronson film, ‘The Mechanic’ is a tired and underdeveloped action movie about a hitman who trains a loser with zero skills or aptitude to be a professional assassin because the older hitman killed the younger hitman’s father. It’s not a bad action movie, but it is not a good one either – just exactly what you expect and, if you are in the right mood, exactly what you want. Jason Statham…

Sometimes you just want to zone out and watch some violence on the screen with something resembling a plot and/or characters. This is a good reminder to have standards even then, as even those… well, all of those, really, left so much to be desired. The action here is thoroughly workmanlike, mostly topping out at the brawl with the predatory bad gay man (“cool stuff”), where we see Steve finally really get licked a bit. Shame that only makes him…

Cold, stylish, and ridiculously efficient. This pure guilty-pleasure action has enough slick kills and swagger to keep it moving.
- Synopsis
- Arthur Bishop is a 'mechanic' - an elite assassin with a strict code requiring professional perfection and total detachment. One of an elite group of assassins, Bishop may be the best in the business - with a unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets. When Harry McKenna, his close friend and mentor, is murdered, Harry's son comes to him with vengeance in his heart and a desire to learn Bishop's trade, signaling the birth of a deadly partnership.
