I’ll never understand the hate. The FX and camera work are honestly some of the best in the series. Like that oner in the helicopter is as good as anything in the first three films…I’m not sorry. The Hydro Bots are so scary. The T600s are fucking metal af. Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese is just fuckin aces. Christian Bale is so good as this era of John Conner. And ya know what, the Arnold part works, I’m sorry but you’re wrong if you disagree. The ending is sorta soft, but that’s just cuz the original ending leaked. Originally John was supposed to die, his face would be grafted on Marcus’s body to keep John as symbol of the resistance…only then Marcus would kill Kyle, Star, and Cate…skynet fuckin wins lol

Only do something special with your character when you can commit to it. What’s the point of making the hero a Terminator if it has no other effects than physical? This is Christian Bale’s fiercest performance yet, though. And I don’t mean the movie but the leaked set recording.

A chilling glimpse into the post-apocalyptic future of 2018, a year so bleak Christian Bale can no longer raise his voice above a gruff whisper. Y’know, this isn’t terribly directed. Visually, it has its moments. The long takes really bring you inside the chaos of a firefight with a bunch of cranky cyborgs. Sure, it’s impossible to square these versions of the characters with the ones in previous movies, but that’s pretty much par for the course in Terminatorland. I think the bigger issue is Bale is totally checked out, Worthington’s anguished “Nooooooo!”s rival Darth Vader in Revenge of the Sith for pure melodramatic goofiness, and the one interesting character (Anton Yelchin’s Kyle Reese) is very minor. It’s a robotic movie through and through — so much so I could almost see a contrarian arguing for it on that basis as an accurate reflection of a world ruled by machines.

This war is so boring it’s no wonder why they keep sending terminators to the past so the good movies can exist

Christian Bale randomly does his Batman voice on occasion and CGI Arnold shows up with no dick and balls. I definitely liked it less than the previous film, but the story was kind of interesting on paper and the third act was kinda cool. Definitely sauceless overall but I have yet to see a truly irredeemably awful Terminator film. Oh well, there’s always next time.

even more unnecessary than the previous installment. watching this thing contort itself to somehow both fit with established mythology and still be in any way surprising or urgent is sincerely disheartening. count me among the two or three remaining McG defenders though. say what you want about the quality of his films’ narratives, the guy shoots the hell out of his action sequences (yes, even in the stupid but inexplicably hated CHARLIE’S ANGELS movies). here you get a minimum of handheld, with long CG-assisted takes and balanced-but-deep scope compositions in frames that snap together like Lego bricks in the editing.

I really enjoyed this movie. I mean, it’s no where near as good as the first two movies, but it is WAYY better than part 3. It’s actually got a good, coherent story, and that’s been kind of rare in Terminator movies. I’ve been watching through this series now for the past few months, watching a movie here and there. Didn’t know what to expect with this one, part four. The other three I had seen before. T2 is one of my favorite movies ever, so I’ve seen that one a bunch. But after part 3, I just never really continued on with the series. Decided to finally change that, but first wanted to watch and review the first 3…

I really don’t understand a lot of the hate this movie gets, some of the complaints are valid like the directing style but honestly this is the only really solid terminator movie after the first two. Also, watching movies with Anton Yelchin breaks my heart, he was one of the most talented young actors around and I have no doubt he would’ve gone on to do even more extraordinary things REST IN PIECE

Either my expectations were too low because of everyone saying it’s an abomination or this is actually a good action movie. The no Arnold part really sucks but I think it’s a decent stand-alone popcorn flick nonetheless. Comparing this to the previous three movies Terminator Salvation is more of the same really, but the look of the movie, tone, structure and post-apocalyptic setting (which made me think of Mad Max) makes it feel fresh in a way. The biggest reason why I enjoyed this; the action. It’s fun, over-the-top and anytime a new T model appears on-screen it’s so fun. They felt pretty threatening too. My favorite part was the giant Mark I Harvester sequences followed by the MotoTerminators. Other…

Clearly thinks it’s doing Terminator-Mad Max but no one involved has any sort of imagination. Its version of these characters and the new ones its invented are as flat and boring as the nondescript, CG steel gray aesthetic it seems to mistake for vision and design. Still, not the worst action scenes I’ve ever seen and some of the practical FX are impressive.

Watched bc I was such a fan of Anton Yelchin AND Christian Bale. But this is just weak.

I liked this film, probably worst of the 4 I have seen. Still pretty good though! Marcus sacrificing himself at the end was good. I do think Kyle and Blair should of hade more screen time though they were not in it enough.

I don’t know why I keep coming back to this, as I’ve seen this multiple times in my life. Is it my nostalgia for the awesome arcade game and somehow thinking it will be like that, or do I just remember this film being better than it actually it is every time I watch it. Am I stuck in a loop, trying to convince myself that this is somehow good? Well the answer is no. I know it’s a turgid,…

Why did Max only have an accent sometimes? What was the point of the little girl? Christian Bale sometimes did his Batman voice

Hat mir noch schlechter gefallen als der dritte Teil. Aus dem postapokalyptischen Setting wird einfach zu wenig gemacht, genau auch wie aus den Figuren, die hier neu introduced werden wie Marcus.

I feel like if you call this film any other title it’s not a bad movie, but if you compare it to other entries in this series it just doesn’t hold up.

Es la primer y creo que única película se Terminator que ocurre en su totalidad, en el futuro apocalíptico que habla la saga y no creo lo hiciera tan mal. Obvio hay cosas malas como puntos débiles, pero no está tan mal.

It’s not as good as the first 3 but I guess Marcus is pretty cool (HalfBot not human one). Also I’m glad he sacrificed himself.

Late-2000s writer’s strike movies are fucking weird, dude. Had some really cool sequences here and there, the new robots were really awesome IMO, and Christian Bale as John Connor was a lot better than I expected. I fear he is (and probably will be) my favorite version of the character post-Judgment Day. Kyle Reese was a solid addition, too. Rest in peace to his actor. He was awesome in this. I wish this movie was just John Connor and Kyle…

Christian Bale on-set drama is more fun than this entire film. I’m so bored of bad Terminator sequels that don’t understand why T2 works. I like how Judgement Day happened in 2018 lol. “If you’re going to point a gun, you’d better be ready to pull the trigger.”

Not bad, guys! Not good either, but fresh ideas are there. It’s trying to be something new without heavily implying nostalgia and original stars (Schwarzenegger’s cameo was cringe, sorry). Instead, it’s incorporating Transformer-ish style of cgi and stupidness, because why are those big ass robots so quiet? At least it’s watchable and not profoundly stupid, so I’ll take that.

Pourquoi faire ?

I mean it’s an upgrade to 3 that’s for sure. You ever just watch something and know it would have been better as a show? This is exactly how I feel about Salvation, every relationship is underbaked, even if the film itself is very enjoyable.

The right ingredients and flavors, but the wrong proportions and cooking steps.

Even though it’s just an ok movie, it should have spun off two more movies, with the third one sending Kyle Reese back in time, as opposed to Terminator Genysis and Dark Fate. This movie gives us the best look at the war between the Resistance and Skynet. Gritty, dusty, and with some of the coolest Terminator designs in the history of the series.

It’s average, almost painfully so, but with what happened to the franchise after, that’s kind of a blessing. “Two day old coyote. It’s better than three day old coyote.”
